TMN, MC & QVF Inc. Announce Start of Production on Transporter

The Movie Network, Movie Central and QVF Inc. Announce Start of Production on Transporter
    August 10, 2011

Canadian Rachel Skarsten joins the series alongside Chris Vance, Andrea Osvart, Francois Berléand and Delphine Chanéac
International co-production with Canadian all-star team shoots in Toronto until November 2011

(August 10, 2011) - Toronto, Canada) - QVF Inc., together with Corus Entertainment's Movie Central (Western Canada) and Astral's The Movie Network (Eastern Canada) announced today that the 12-part action series Transporter has begun production in Toronto. The series will shoot until November 2011 and is set to premiere on HBO Canada in 2012. Canadian Rachel Skarsten (Servitude) is the newest addition to the cast in the role of Delia, alongside already announced cast members Chris Vance (Prison Break), Andrea Osvart (Duplicity), Francois Berléand (The Transporter 1,2, 3) and Delphine Chanéac (Splice).

Transporter is produced by Canadian Susan Murdoch (Dan for Mayor) for QVF Inc. and Klaus Zimmermann (Borgias) for Atlantique Productions. The series features an all-star Canadian production team that will take the helm in Toronto, including Executive Producers Fred Fuchs (Camelot), Robert Cooper (Stargate), Joseph Mallozzi and Paul Mullie (Stargate) and directors Stephen Williams (Lost), Bruce McDonald (Trigger) and Andy Mikita (Stargate), alongside international partners, including Executive Producers Alexander Ruemelin (The Volcano) and Luc Besson.

Transporter is a France/Canada international treaty co-production produced by Atlantique Productions SA and QVF Inc. in association with broadcast partners The Movie Network and Movie Central as well as M6 (France), RTL (Germany), and HBO/Cinemax (US).

The fast-paced, action-packed series is based on the popular film franchise of the same name created by Europacorp's Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen. Transporter follows the adventures of professional transporter Frank Martin (Vance), who can always be counted on to get the job done. Operating in a seedy underworld of dangerous criminals and desperate players, Frank plays by three rules: never change the deal, no names and never open the package. In order to do the job with minimal personal interaction, Frank must rely on his trusted handler, Carla (Osvart), a former CIA Operative, who organizes Frank's missions and acts as his eyes and ears on the outside. Sometimes it is hard to elude personal interaction altogether, especially when the package is a person, as in the case of Delia (Skarsten) - a surprise package from Frank's past. Frank's good friend, Inspector Tarconi (Berléand), once charged with the task of investigating Frank, now keeps himself blissfully unaware of Frank's law-skirting escapades, even when he is being questioned by Juliette (Chanéac), a young enthusiastic reporter working on a story about the underground world of Transporters.

FILMING BEGINS IN TORONTO ON CINEMAX'S NEW 12-PART ACTION SERIES "TRANSPORTER," STARRING CHRIS VANCE

Andrea Osvart, Francois Berléand, Delphine Chanéac And Rachel Skarsten Also Star; Stephen Williams Directs First Episode

NEW YORK, Aug. 10, 2011 - Filming has begun in Toronto on the 12-part action series TRANSPORTER, starring Chris Vance ("Burn Notice," "Prison Break") in the title role. Shooting through this November, the series will debut on CINEMAX in 2012.

The series' executive producers are Luc Besson, Fred Fuchs, Robert Cooper, Joseph Mallozzi & Paul Mullie and Alexander Ruemelin; produced by Susan Murdoch (QVF Inc.) and Klaus Zimmermann (Atlantique Productions). TRANSPORTER is a France/Canada international treaty co-production produced by Atlantique Productions and QVF Inc. in association with broadcast partners HBO/CINEMAX as well as The Movie Network and Movie Central (Canada), M6 (France) and RTL (Germany).

Based on the successful film franchise of the same name created by Europacorp's Luc Besson and Robert Mark Kamen, this fast-paced series follows the adventures of professional transporter Frank Martin, who can always be counted on to get the job done - discreetly. Operating in a seedy underworld of dangerous criminals and desperate players, his three rules are: Never change the deal, no names, and never open the package. Occasionally, complications arise and rules get broken.

Andrea Osvart ("Duplicity") co-stars as Martin's trusted handler Carla and Francois Berléand reprises his role of Inspector Tarconi from the films. The cast also includes Delphine Chanéac ("Splice") in the recurring role of Juliette, a reporter who seems to know a lot about Frank's work, and Rachel Skarsten ("Made... The Movie," "Birds of Prey") as Delia, the daughter of someone from Frank's past.

Stephen Williams, a director and co-executive producer of "Lost," is directing the first episode.
