hi all does anybody have any info about science & engineering channels e.g discovery national geographic animal plannet in ontario.
Asif
If what you're asking is does Cogeco carry those channels in Ontario, yes they do, Animal Planet and National Geographic Channel are on digital cable and Discovery Channel, I guess depending on what city you live in, it is either on analogue or digital cable, but most likely its on analogue.
Cogeco has just added TSN2 HD, TELETOON Retro and one Canal Indigo HD channel to its customers in Quebec. Check local listings for channel placement.
Cogeco has launched Sportsnet East HD in Quebec, chaeck local listings.
It looks as though Cogeco has launched The Golf Channel HD in certain areas that it serves. It's available on channel 738. I haven't heard anything on the packaging or price yet.
Just reciently in Belleville Ontario and most of the Cogeco Markets...They made some changes to the U.S Stations
05-WXXI(PBS) Rochester replaced by WNED(PBS) Buffalo
08-WROC(CBS)Rochester replaced by WIVB(CBS)Buffalo
10-WHEC(NBC)Rochester replaced by WGRZ(NBC)Buffalo
13-WHAM(ABC)Rochester replaced by WKBW(ABC)Buffalo
Now to Cogeco in Quinte...how about either separating...
11-CKWS(CBC)Kingston
12-CHEX(CBC)Peterborough
both of which air the same shows except the news...however the only differance is that CKWS(CBC)Kingston is more Local than CHEX(CBC)Peterborough and imagine flipping both channel 11 and 12 with the same shows except the newsTry living in Quinte with a lousy cable lineup!!!
It must be do to the fact that both stations signal reach that particular area, so Cogeco has to place them both on cable. If not, I agree, then that really is a waste of space. But it's not as if the Quinte area is alone in this, I know that Rogers, in the Grand River region, carries both A London and A Barrie on basic analog cable, all the same programs the same time except for news. I'm assuming both signals reach that area some how, if not, again a waste of valuable space.
Agreed...But it would be kind of nice if we in the Quinte Region would see an Atv Channel, a CTS or an E! Station in this area...we have at least 3 CBC Stations from Kingston(11), Peterborough(12) and Montreal(56) and 2 CTV Stations from Ottawa(6) and Toronto(9) all on their Channel Lineups however back in those days Not all programming was the same on either stations but Today they are like I said except the News and it is also rumoured that CTV Ottawa may be leaving our Lineup when it's Channel 6 Transmitter From Deseronto plans to cease at the end of August but for now I will believe it when I see it!!!

To sum up the press release, Cogeco will be adding these new HD channels in Quebec:I'm assuming when the article says Mystery HD, that they are really meaning Mystère HD, the French channel owned by Quebecor Media, not Mystery TV which is an English channel owned by Canwest/Quebecor which doesn't even have an HD channel yet. Plus, the channel is on channel 516, which is near the French channels, far from the English channels.
- Télé-Québec HD - channel 501
- Évasion HD - channel 517
- TV5 HD - channel 518
- PBS HD - channel 534
- Mystery HD - channel 516
- The Score HD - channel channel 543
- Nation Geographic Channel HD - channel 550
- Discovery HD - channel 560
I was just on the crtc.gc.ca website and I see Canwest also wants to launch a MovietimeHD Channel as well...I wonder if that will get approval, if so it doesn't matter to me cause I'll probably never go HD at all!!!
