The near future cleared for two CBS series, the comedy "Rules of Engagement" and the drama "Shark," which received orders Tuesday for six and four additional episodes, respectively.

Meanwhile, there are more clouds ahead for ABC's freshman drama "Women's Murder Club." Three executive producers on the show, co-creators/co-showrunners Elizabeth Craft and Sarah Fain as well as R. Scott Gemmill, have been let go. ABC has yet to decide the fate of the drama, which has faded after a hot start, but if more episodes are ordered, they will be produced without the trio.

Not expected to continue is another ABC freshman drama, "Big Shots."

Meanwhile, there still is no resolution on the final six episodes of "Scrubs," as NBC has not yet ordered fresh episodes of the departing series.

As for "Rules" and "Shark," "Rules" had been competing with "The New Adventures of Old Christine" for the Monday 9:30 p.m. slot, while "Shark's" future for the rest of the season was put in doubt after CBS scheduled "Dexter" in the drama's Sunday 10 p.m. berth.
