Streaming Guide online TV listings site

    Hi,

This new site www.streaming-guide.com lists free online TV shows (not just channles) that are available in Canada legally. Currently they have over 1000 shows listed, linking directly to the original source.

This is actually a very extensive list and it seems quite accurate. I was surprised to find I could watch Babylon 5 free on Rogers On Demand TV even though I'm not a Rogers customer...

    Google is my best friend

The endless search for free tv is never going to be over. If you only rely on Canadian websites and unblocked American websites (like AMC and A&E) to watch free TV shows, you're missing out on a whole new world and wasting your Internet connection.

Simple Google searches will allow you to stream (or download if you have that option) American TV shows well before they air in Canada. You don't even need to use a VPN or similar service to beat the geo-locks ... that's because most TV shows are stored online without geo-lock protection.

Why wait for a Canadian TV station to broadcast the USA, TNT, or Lifetime programming, when you can watch it right now, for free? Sure, the streaming quality might not be as good as the fancy HDTV reception, but since I don't even have an HDTV, I don't really care.

I don't know when or where The Client List will air in Canada, but now that I streamed the first episode for free online (no VPN needed), I'm no longer curious, or even care.

Just because the USA Network, Lifetime and TNT websites are geo-blocked to Canadians, it doesn't mean that you need a VPN or similar service to watch US programming before it airs in Canada. As far as I know, it's not illegal to watch HULU in Canada if you are using a VPN, but since I don't have high-speed Internet at home, I prefer to visit my local Library and stream for free from there (by using other links that aren't geo-blocked).

One day I might even decide to pay for high-speed Internet and also make use of a VPN, but until that day comes, I plan to cancel my Rogers Cable at the end of July and stick with free Internet streaming and occasional OTA viewing.
