National Free Preview Beginning October 17 Opens Channel to Additional Four Million Canadian Households



TORONTO, October 12, 2011–Food Network Canada is going big. As of October 17, Food Network will be available on a national free preview in over 10 million households across the country.

Currently ranked among the top 10 specialty channels for adults 25-54 and top five for women 25-54,* Food Network’s free preview begins just in time for the launch of two of the channel’s most highly anticipated shows of the season - the brand new Canadian series Recipe to Riches and the new season of Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs, featuring Canada’s own Chuck Hughes (Chuck’s Day Off).

Recipe to Riches (World Broadcast Premiere)
Premieres October 19
In this new competitive reality series, everyday Canadians with extraordinary recipes battle for the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for their recipe to be developed into a President’s Choice® branded product available in select Loblaw banner stores across the country. Hosted by former The Bachelor star Jesse Palmer, the competition is judged by a panel of experts including Laura Calder, host of French Food at Home; Tony Chapman, Founder and CEO of leading advertising agency Capital C; and Dana McCauley, Culinary Director at Janes Family Foods. Each week, Canadians will have the chance to sample category winners’ products in-store. After all category winners have been determined viewers will have the opportunity to vote online for the best of the best and, during the exciting finale, witness who will take home the $250,000 grand prize – the largest cash prize in Canadian reality television history.

Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs (Canadian Premiere)

The Next Iron Chef: Super Chefs tests 10 internationally renowned chefs’ kitchen skills, mental strength and masterful instincts through a series of cut-throat challenges yet only one winner will be inducted into the Chairman's team on Iron Chef America, joining the prestigious ranks of Iron Chefs Bobby Flay, Marc Forgione, Masaharu Morimoto and Michael Symon. In this new season Montreal’s Chuck Hughes, host of Chuck’s Day Off and recently the first Canadian Chef to beat Bobby Flay on Iron Chef America, is amongst the elite group of competitors. Hosted by Alton Brown (Iron Chef America and Good Eats) this season’s competition is judged by original Next Iron Chef Michael Symon, esteemed food journalist Simon Majumdar and UK Iron Chef Judy Joo.
