NBC will do the heavy lifting

NBC is developing a new competition reality series from the creator of "Deadliest Catch" and "Ice Road Truckers."

The network has put out a five-city casting call for the working-titled "I Can Do That," where a group of men and women travel across the country competing in acts of strength and stamina for a cash prize.

The show is from Thom Beers' Original Prods. and BermanBraun, which signed a unique agreement with NBC last year to collectively create an action-reality block for the network.

NBC says "I Can Do That" is still considered in development. But given the circumstances surrounding the project, a series pickup looks likely. Not only is a nationwide cast hunt under way, but the agreement between NBC and Original/BermanBraun reportedly guarantees that the network will air at least two hours of the duo's action-reality programming on one night.

Plus, NBC scored with a physical competition series this year with "American Gladiator," and Beers recently added another reality hit to his resume with Sunday night's premiere of "Ax Men" on the History Channel.
