    Viewers Choice goes national

Just like The Movie Network, Viewers Choice is limited to the East of Canada from the Ontario/Manitoba border. I can only think of VCC offering their services to MTS and other small providers for live events like boxing and UFC...

    Application 2011-1653-3

Terrestrial television pay-per-view service – Licence amendment
    1. The Commission approves the application by Viewer’s Choice Canada Inc. (Viewer’s Choice Canada) to amend the broadcasting licence for its regional, English-language general interest terrestrial television pay-per-view (PPV) service serving Eastern Canada by changing its nature of service from regional to national. The Commission notes that Viewer’s Choice Canada was initially licensed to serve only Ontario, Quebec and the Atlantic provinces.

    2. The licensee is of the view that this amendment will allow it to compete with the other terrestrial television PPV services.

    3. The Commission did not receive any interventions in connection with this application.

It's a mystery to me why the hell they didn't do this years ago, especially when Shaw PPV (who use to share branding with VC in Western Canada) left their agreement with VC, went national themselves, and started using their own brand. That happened in December 2007.

There are quite a few, but nearly all of them are fed by Shaw Broadcast Services and already have Shaw PPV.
