    Super Channel Licence

Does anyone think the Crtc would not renew the broadcast licence when it expires next fall?

When the CRTC doesn't renew a licence, it gets revoked for a serious reason, normally repetitive licence non-compliance.
First offense gets a shorter licence renewal with conditions, and a serious broadcaster with monetary problems will ask for temporary licence amendments. After all, a TV station is a business, or a product.

    Answer is here: http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2010/2010-811.htm

    Exactly!

It appears as though this service is doing okay, it has been over 5 years since it launched and its still on the air. They have now launched HD feeds of their remaining channels so that indicates to me that they are doing well. I still content that they have too many channels, do they have enough content to fill 4 channels?! Also, this service is priced a bit too high IMO, based on the content it offers it should be a little cheaper.

I like how they air content from around the world instead of just focusing on Hollywood like TMN/Movie Central but I suspect this has to do with the fact that the two incumbents have snatched up most of the content having signed long term deals with most of the major Hollywood studios. Having said that, they have managed to snag some content from Showtime including the hit series Homeland and Showtime boxing. They also air several original series from Starz.

I don't think their financial/subscriber/rating performance would have much of an impact on whether or not the CRTC would renew their licence or not. That may be good criteria to examine on whether or not Allarco would shut down the service or not on their own terms, but not for CRTC renewing their licence.

But, SportaFan is right, there is no reason why the CRTC would not renew their licence, at least none that I can think of, unless there's some technical things things I'm not aware of like not keeping records of their logs, or not maintaining the required Canadian content or CPE levels ro something. Which, even if Super Chanenl was in violation of something like this, the CRTC would likely just give a warning and closely monitor them for a bit. They wouldn't outright deny their licence renewal right off the bat like that.

However, Super Channel is asking for some changes to be made to their existing licence, and those could be denied by the CRTC. But, I can say with 100% guarantee that the CRTC is going to renew their licence, that's a given.

Do you think the changes they want seem fair?

    This is so vague.
Their application is there : http://crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2013/2013-19.htm#bm23

What exactly in their application that doesn't seem "fair" to you ?

My comment had nothing to do with the renewal of their license, it was regarding whether the owners are happy with how the service is performing and whether it will remain in operation long term (I think it will).
