I don't know when the new TV series
Jo (or perhaps called
Le Grand in Europe), starring Jean Reno, will air in North America (ION is being sued for dropping out of the North American deal), but I just wanted to mention that the final 8th episode of the first season will pick up a storyline involving one of the characters from
Law & Order: Criminal Intent. That character will also appear in the episode.
Since Canadian-born producer and showrunner for various
Law & Order shows, Rene Balcer, is also behind the new
Jo series, it's not surprising that some of the cast from those
Law & Order shows also appear in
Jo.
Jill Hennessy plays a nun in
Jo, and Sam Waterston has a guest appearance in one of the later episodes (also nothing to do with his
Law & Order character).
Most of the
Jo episodes fall flat, and even the 8th episode began to fall apart towards the end, thus leaving me unsatisfied overall.
Jo is filmed in Paris, but ALL the characters speak English (although the series will be dubbed for foreign markets).
You can find all 8 episodes of
Jo online (in various places), but don't expect them to be of
Law & Order quality.
I'd give Season 1 of
Jo a fairly weak 6/10. I would also guess that the series might eventually pop up on Super Channel, TMN, or perhaps Showcase, but I haven't read anything that would confirm my hunch.
