I see that they've picked up most (if not all) of the remaining American shows that were passed by the other Canadian networks, particularly The CW. A handful of cable shows as well.

Did Rogers/Citytv acquire the Canadian broadcast rights for Nip/Tuck away from CTV, or just the reruns? I assume the latter, same with Curb Your Enthusiasm.

Overall, not bad. It seems that they gained something. They didn't lose a whole lot except for America's Next Top Model (to A) and both Smallville and Supernatural (to SUN TV). I still question though why Smallville and Supernatural couldn't have moved to A, since both shows are very well sci-fi oriented, and they also air on Space.

Smallville did well on A-Channel but no room for it this year with all the simulcasts CTV has given them. I'm not sure why Citytv didn't pick it up to go with Supernatural. I'm surprised CTV gave Lipstick Jungle to Citytv. The ratings weren't the greatest but I thought they would just hold onto the series and air it later on in the season on A-Channel or the very least keep it off a rival network. Anyway Citytv pretty much got to keep all their shows prior to the Rogers aquisition. Which is great news. They're still behind CTV and Global but they have a pretty respectable schedule.

    Nip/Tuck are definately reruns

NFL Football will be a big for Citytv this years as it will air accros all Citytv stations for the first time.

For sure. Anything on new and returning shows that the OMNI channels have picked up? I noticed some key daytime shows currently on Citytv not listed. And how about Mad TV? I assume it's staying on OMNI. Also, with SUN TV dropping The Price is Right, I assume that show's OMNI-bound too.

Well atleast they picked up some programs from cable networks, to give us something different.

NFL Football should do well, Still looks like we will end up with alot of movies though. and they announced how many new Canadian shows? Wait is there even any Canadian shows in primetime? Say what you want about Canwest, but their Canadian content looks great compared to Citytv's. Another thing is that atleast Canwest has something called local news, it seems like the Citytv stations outside Toronto have just decided to give up on the local news part, by not producing any evening or late night news at all.

What about Ed the Sock? Would Citytv drop him like they did with Silverman?

Citytv Vancouver and OMNI.2 were the Rogers OTA stations showing the 4PM ET NFL games in 2007. Presumably this means they will be on all of the Citytv stations and not OMNI.2 in 2008.
If so, Citytv Toronto won't be able to have news at 6PM on Sundays for 17 weeks.

I think Ed The Sock is gone because he belongs to MuchMusic, which is now with CTV.

They can always air their news after the NFL brodcast.

But like I said, it seems like Rogers doesn't seem to care about Television news, i'm surprised they didn't pull the Saturday 11:00PM newscast so they could simulcast Mad TV with FOX.

There is a couple Canadian shows on the skid, theres Kaya and Less Then Kind, still not good tho. Did they release their actual schedule or did they only release the shows they picked up?

I'm surprised about the fact they didn't pick up Smallville or Supernatural. So the only station in Canada those 2 shows are going to air on is SUN TV? These are both CW network shows, I'm surprised some kind of network didn't pick it up for simsub purposes at least and for the fact that I'm pretty sure they would count towards Cancon.

And wasn't Ed the Sock fired form MuchMusic? I know there was some kind of thing going on about that, he's not mentioned on MuchMusic website as a VJ anymore. So he may not be a CTVgm employee anymore so he just may be back on Citytv tho.

As far as I know, Ed the Sock's show is exclusively on Citytv, not CTV or any of their specialty channels. I think it's been at least two or three years since he's done anything on MuchMusic, even before CTVgm bought CHUM Ltd. Once MuchMusic had their "Video on Trial" show, they had no interest in his similarly themed stuff mocking music videos and pop culture.

That's true. Ed the Sock used to have a weekly show as well as occasional hosting gigs during VideoFlow on MuchMusic. Once those were gone, he was limited to hosting "Fromage" at the end of the year where he counted down the cheesiest videos, and that was last shown in 2005.

He did a "Fromage" type show in 2006, but that was more or less integrated with an episode of "Ed the Sock" on Citytv, and covered pop culture in general.

Ed the Sock is still on MuchMusic, not over the air but on MuchAXS, the station's broadband service on their website.

Kaya, while a Canadian-produced show, first aired on MTV in the U.S. late last year and is currently airing on MuchMusic. However, it appears to be no longer in production - it lasted only 10 episodes.

Your right about Ed The Sock, His bio is on the Citytv site.

Also Less Than Kind was announced by CHUM last year for the 2007-2008 schedule. So pretty much it's just been sitting on the shelf. In the end Rogers has produced zero scripted Canadian programming for Citytv.

I'm really not that surprised to see Smallville and Supernatural missing from the Schedule, not that many people get The CW in Canada anyways, Not that they would simulcast these shows anyway since they have bigger shows to air like Ugly Betty & Hell's Kitchen.

It looks like it will be the final season of Smallville anyways, and the show will end in January. It's not suspose to be the final season for Supernatural but it very well could be since it's likely that The CW will shut down after this year, one local group of stations went bankrupt and blamed it on The CW's horrible primetime ratings, and NBC Universal and 20th Century FOX are now refusing to produce shows for The CW because The CW's ratings are so low they find it impossible for a show to become a hit.

Pay atten, I said pay attention son.
The weekly co-hosts and "live" aspects of the show were dropped within a few months after it started in 2003.
Whoever wrote this press release must have just copied another one that was five years old.

    As for Canadian programming

Citytv will only be airing 4 hours of Canadian programming in primetime per-week

only 1 hour of that programming (30 minutes if you count that Kaya has already aired on MuchMusic) will be new.

Another horrible showing of Cancon, possibly worst then Canwest which I thought would have been hard to beat. But I guess a bit of credit can be given to them since this has been an unusual time for both Citytv and A-Channel b/c of the CTVgm takeover, hopefully they'll turn it around quickly. But it seems consistent with the entire schedule, it seems somewhat weak overall, much of primetime is the leftover programs that they other networks didn't want, cable reality shows and just reality shows overall, and syndicated reruns of shows during primetime and daytime that I assume are probably not simulcasted. Personally I don't see anything I'm looking forward to watching on Citytv.

And I guess Ed the Sock will be gone from Citytv afterall, it's not on the schedule anywhere. I thought that show did well for Citytv considering the timeslot and so on. And since they are short on original programming I thought they would have kept it.
