ICI / CFHD-DT Montreal launchpad

Since last night, UHF 47 (47.1) is broadcasting a simple test video (day to night fast-forward video of the city) in preparation of the launch of International Channel/Canal International (ICI), Montreal's new ethnic station.

They're using the same antenna used by Bell for CFCF's pre-transition on UHF 51 between january and september 2011, nearby the police station on the Mont-Royal.

Apparently, those who live in the west-island get a better signal than CJNT-DT (City), while those in the east (St-Hubert, Granby) get a better signal from CJNT.

The UHF 47 signal was shut down last friday, sept 6th, probably to save power. A promotional video loop should be running soon before the still unknown launch date.

So far, they revealed their upcoming position on Videotron (16/616) and Bell Fibe (216/1216). More to come.

Signal came back since November 26th.

When CFHD-DT signal came back online last december, they were using MPEG-1 audio instead of AC3, resulting in some TV sets not able to decode the audio.

Problem was looked after, and sometime before xmas, a flip was switched, but it had a reverse effet : some TV sets that were able to decode MPEG-1 audio now have no audio at all !

That is the case with my LG TV right now, no audio. The Sony TV in the other room works well. The audio problem doesn't affect Illico subscribers.
