Icon5 Too many things to watch ... not enough time to watch them ... it's time to choose!

Because of the Internet (and partially the Public Libraries), I have been exposed to far too many below average, average, good, very good, excellent and can't miss content that I will simply never have time to watch ... even if I use DVD/Blu-rays (or the Internet) to get all the episodes at once, when I desire them.

I'm going to make a Must Watch List of the content that I simply must finish watching before I get hit by a fast-moving car perhaps driven by Rob Ford.

I will still sample some new shows, like Reign, (which I like -- just saw portions of last week's episode), but I will probably abandon them if my list grows too quickly ... which I expect it will, very quickly.

The first thing that pops into my mind is Bron Season 2. I love the characters, but hate the FX version called The Bridge (though I still need to FF scan through the last 3 episodes - EDIT 1: I finished those 3 episodes, and only liked some of the scenery ... I prefer the actors from Bron). I will store the UK version of it called The Tunnel and watch it later.

For fluff, I'm going with Dancing with the Stars Australia. I like Tina Arena and the fact that it's the Australian version of a lame show.

I'm sticking with Covert Affairs as my middle-of-the-road action/adventure/babe show ... even though I'm far behind.

I'll keep up with White Collar, even though I've only seen the pilot episode ... and enjoyed it.

I'll stick with The Blacklist, even though I'm way behind at the moment.

For magic/illusionist content, I'll stick with Tricked.

I'll add more titles later, but I'm literally going to be deleting and purging thousands of hours of saved TV content and movies that are literally keeping me from sitting down to must-see-tv each night ... even though I've got enough to keep me busy for a very long time. The trick is to only watch the stuff that my brain needs to survive.

Yes, I'm even dumping the fab Sons of Anarchy series ... unless I notice a new actress come on board.

One day, I might even get to finish watching Broadchurch (even though I think I know who the killer is) and the countless other series' related to it that I still have stored. EDIT 2: I finished watching Broadchurch, but didn't guess the killer's identity. Good stuff.

    Damn, Internet.

My Current Must Watch List (in no particular order):

    1. Bron - Season 2

    2. The Tunnel (UK version of The Bridge/Bron)

    3. Tricked

    4. Dancing with the Stars Australia (I must be crazy ... I'm watching this fluff?)

    5. The Blacklist

    6. Covert Affairs

    7. White Collar

    8. Reign (most likely only temporary)

    9. Almost any episode with Sarah Shahi (Person of Interest, etc.)

Note: Some of these shows might get knocked off my list, as others come on board, but can you guys come up with your own must watch lists, just to see how different our various tastes are? How small can you make your lists without feeling deprived?

My purging has begun ... say goodbye to Arrow (never watched more than 1 minute of selected episodes), Pawn Stars, Boardwalk Empire, Hart of Dixie, Devious Maids, Criminal Minds, Burn Notice, Strike Back S3, 1600, etc.

I know it's difficult for a show that's been going since the 1990s to stay good, and I haven't looked up any reviews or other comments, but I can't be the only one who found that first episode of the new season to be a little disappointing. It just seems to be becoming more formulaic and phoned-in, and now like they really couldn't be bothered to come up with an ending that made any sense. How and why did the Syrian refugees, air-cannon launched tacos, Jared from Subway, and the pregnant Mexican women swarming the frat house cause the PC guys to change? Or were they just trying to jam in as many pointless current event and pop culture references as possible to misdirect and confuse people into thinking it made sense when it didn't?

Problem with watching TV shows in a Top 100 list order is that it's taking away your pleasure level.
You're starting with the crème, going downwards.

My way of doing things: first in, first out. If I downloaded/PVR'ed that movie/show X months/years ago, there was probably a reason, if I don't like it, I'll delete it and I'll have more free space. Exceptions are time-planning : if I have 25 minutes to kill, I'll start a 30-minutes show instead of a hour drama.

I don't know if I can watch in a specific order ... this is all very new to me. However, I know I'd rather finish Bron, than Trophy Wife (even though I like it).

I guess if I could tell a computer virus to delete certain files, while leaving others alone, I would hope that Trophy Wife gets deleted and not Bron. All I'm doing is pretending to be a computer virus that I can actually control.

My problem is that there's almost always something interesting in almost every show. Sometimes it might be because of a guest star, or a specific plot that I almost always enjoy. It's also quite easy to FF through much of the content if I'm only looking for specific people, places or things. That's probably why I stored a lot of the filler in the first place.

I can sit down and enjoy most things, but that stops me from watching the stuff I know I would probably enjoy more.

I still like watching some sporting events, but not nearly as much as I used to. Virtually no hockey until the playoffs, no CFL unless Calvilo is playing (I assume he's done), some NFL games, some auto racing (playing in the other room), etc. Been there done that, but sports content can still relax and entertain me, if I'm in the mood for it.

All I know for sure is that whatever I'm doing now, isn't working. I shouldn't be trying to keep up, or catch up ... I should just be watching what I want to watch, when I want to watch it, instead of being distracted by the endless supply of fresh content that entertains me enough to keep tuning in, but shouldn't be able to keep me watching it, unless I think it belongs on my list.

Sometimes it's hard to let go of a tv series that I've been following for years, but sometimes if the network doesn't want to cancel it, I have to.

It's all a work in progress, but life often gets in the way.

Me either. It all depends on the "mood of the moment". Sometime I feel more sci-fi, sometime, crime drama, etc.

Same here. I used to watch each Habs game but now, I watch it if there's nothing else and I don't feel like doing anything else (which is pretty rare these days). I usually tune in the Habs games around 10-15 games before the playoffs and during the playoffs I often watch a game even if its not the Habs.

The past few years have changed the way I watch TV. Usually, I tuned in the first episode of a series that interests me but now, I start watching it after I know it'll survive the first season. It just kills me to start watching a show and see it canceled after a few episodes, specially when I like it! I usually watch canceled series only if it gets a good hype from a strong fan base (like Firefly).

I don't stop watching a series if it's cancelled because more often than not, all the episodes get aired in other countries (or on the broadcaster's website), even if there's no DVD.

Ironside had it's 5th and 6th episodes uploaded online already.

If only a few episodes were made, that makes things more annoying, but season-ending cliffhangers of cancelled series are also troublesome.

I'm far behind, but the beginning of S04E01 made me laugh, and it still looks clever enough to keep me hooked.

I also started watching the new season 11 of Two And a Half Men to see how Amber Tamblyn helps the series. Even with her limited appearances (she's not even that interesting), I still laugh, so I'll probably have to take a peek at it each week. If Amber left the series, I'd still stop by for CourtneyThorne-Smith. I'm not yet sure if I'll be watching future episodes in their entirety, but I still might have to add this to my Watch List next week.

[Amber Tamblyn arrives on the scene]

As much as we like Amber Tamblyn as an actress, we have to admit one thing about her role on “Two and a Half Men” so far this season: It’s been pretty bland. Basically, the writers have found a way to dissolve the occasionally-complex character of Charlie Harper into Jenny, but keeping only the parts that include a love for booze and for women. Literally, the only things that we ever really hear her talk about are getting drunk, and sleeping with women. That’s about it.

    I hear you brother. :)

Have Fibe TV with over 250+ channels.

Have Dish Network with over 250+ channels

    THAT'S 500+ CHANNELS!!

And at times there's nothing to watch
    :ambivalence:

Either I've seen it before? Some sports thing

Or it sucks or I can't understand what there saying.

    500+ channels and nothing on.

    34. Brain Games (Season 3) and Season 4 debuted in July 2014 on the National Geographic Channel (USA)[also on NatGeo Canada, but behind].

Big fan of this series ... and I still need to finish watching some of the second season episodes as well.

EDIT: I finished watching Season 4, but I still need to watch some of the second and third season episodes.

I finally finished the 6 episodes of Tricked (I enjoyed them all), so now I'll replace it with Don't Trust Andrew Mayne (A&E), even though the first 4 episodes were quite similar to each other and rather average for an illusionist series.

Edit 1: I just finished FF skip-jumping through Alpha House S1 episodes 3 through 11 because I found them to be quite dull. I just started Season 2 and also found the first episode to be dull. I'm hoping it improves, or I'll be finished watching the second season even faster than the first (especially since all S2 episodes are on Amazon -- instead of waiting for Amazon to only upload one episode a week).

Edit 2: Thankfully, Season 2 did improve by the middle of episode 3 (fewer FF skip-jumps were needed). I watched up till the end of episode 8, and just need to finish the remaining two episodes.

Edit 3: The last two episodes of Season 2 were very good. Almost no skip-jumps were necessary. Nice plot development leading to a possible third season.

    37. Duck Quacks Don't Echo (US version-National Geographic Channel)

    38. Duck Quacks Don't Echo (UK version - begins in Feb. on Sky TV --> 8 episodes, though the 8th episode is a recap with some unaired bits that I haven't seen)

Fun US series, so I assume I will also enjoy the UK version --> EDIT: Yes I also enjoyed the UK version, and now there's a 2nd season of 8 episodes beginning Sept 1, 2014).

By the way, duck quacks actually DO echo, although it's often hard to tell.
