Digital Antenna that works in Quebec ?

I want to use a Digital Antenna to watch some TV channels in Quebec, Canada. I know there has been changes in the recent years and that the old antennas aren't working anymore. But i have read a guide on the internet explaining we can still get some channels for free using a new kind of antennas. I followed the guide and bought exactly the same antenna it was suggesting:

However, when i connected it to my HDTV i couldn't scan a single channel :( My HDTV is very recent and i'm pretty sure it does have a DTV tuner. The model is Samsung PN51D490A1D. I bought it in 2011 and the article says all TV made after 2005 have built-in DTV Tuner.

So why exactly can't i receive any channel with my digital antenna ? I've put it right in the window but still can't receive any signal. Did i miss something ?

Are you saying you live in Quebec City? If so, you should be able to get 5 digital/HD channels and one low power analog channel. Try using the tool on http://www.tvfool.com. Enter in your address and it will give you an idea what you can receive ota at your location.

Also older antennas still work just as well as new ones. The only thing that has changed is the tuner requirement. Whatever antenna you use make sure it can pick up channels 7-51. The TV fool website will tell you if you need an indoor or outdoor antenna.

False. Old antennas still work. So, if you already have a rooftop antenna, use it.

In Quebec City, you'll get SRC, TVA, V, TQc and Global. Some from the Mont Bélair, TVA from Myrand street transmitter, and the others from Édifice Marie-Guyart (Complexe G). Depending on your physical location, you'll either need to point to one central direction for all 5 channels, or you're stuck in the middle.
