Attention Rogers: Stop lying to your customers

This relates to a couple of other of threads regarding the way Bell and particularly Rogers have handled the situation regarding their dropping Speed Channel and not replacing it with any of the other available channels of a similar genre of programming.

First, a simple statement of fact:
Nothing carried on Speed at present or any time during 2013 and 2014 has been acquired by TSN or Sportsnet. Not one thing. The racing coverage on TSN and Sportsnet is the same now in 2014 as it was in 2013, at least as far as I can see or anyone else has noticed.

I say this because I have now, on at least two occasions in recent weeks since I canceled my Rogers services, had Rogers representatives who have called me say that other channels have picked up the racing that was on Speed, and thus Rogers viewers are missing nothing. This is blatantly untrue. Others have mentioned similar false statements being made by Rogers on social media. It is an absurdly ridiculous lie to attempt to get away with, since it is directed at people who watch racing on television and know immediately that it is not true. Yet it seems some others who don't follow racing may be naively believing everything Rogers says.

I will concede that it is possible some of this may have come from over-zealous sales people who do not fully understand the situation. But this has now been pointed out to Rogers many times, in several ways, from many different people, and it has continued.

Rogers is again deleting channels without adding new ones and continually raising the price for the ones that are left. One of the channels they announce that will no longer be available as of January 1st 2018 is BET. I don't watch this channel as much as I use to because it has too many commercials but I am not happy that they are taking it off. What is the CRTC doing about this?

Nothing. The CRTC does not regulate cable prices, or international channel carriage deals (in this case Rogers deal with Viacom for BET and Spike).

If Rogers wants to act like an a**hole to its TV customers, the CRTC can't do anything about it, as long as it's respecting the regulations and guidelines.
We had a good run: 2006 to 2020. Thanks for the informations and debates.

It s not just Rogers but other providers do the same thing.

It all depends on how theyb do the Package price deals"

    An example

I sub to some ethnic channels

    With Rogers

4 of the channels would cost $40

With Bell I get those same 4 channels plus 8 more for $45

I'm not sure if its the same for all channels or packages, but I'm guess the Channel owner sells at same price to both Bell & Rogers, it appears Rogers is more greedy in this case.
