    WSTV (World Sports Television)

... WSTV (World Sports Television), a brand new sports specialty channel scheduled to launch in May ...

    About WSTV Canada
For passionate sports fans, WSTV (World Sports Television) is Canada’s 24/7 portal to the best international professional sporting events, featuring live coverage, highlights, and expert analysis.
    http://wstvcanada.com/

There was a "World Sports Network" approved by the CRTC.
    http://www.crtc.gc.ca/eng/archive/2013/2013-16.htm

It is already listed as carrying Moto GP and the FIA World Rallycross Championship (which has a round in Canada at
    Trois-Rivières).

Presumably this channel carrying Moto GP would make the continued existence in Canada of the Fox Sports Racing channel even more pointless.

Their website now suggests a launch date some time in early August. In addition to the above-mentioned Moto GP and FIA World Rallycross, programming line-up will apparently include German, Swiss, and Swedish hockey, FIVB Volleyball, Beach soccer, and 3x3 basketball.

The countdown clock on their website has changed to show an alleged launch sometime in late October.
This isn't a good time to be starting a new TV channel (and that's an understatement), particularly a niche channel with a programming line-up of things like FIA World Rallycross that has few watching its free live streaming.

The countdown clock on their website is gone, apparently removed in October before reaching the supposed launch date yet again, and simply reads "coming soon". You have to wonder if 'soon' will ever arrive when it comes to launching a new channel in Canada, particularly one not owned by one of the conglomerates.
On a similar note, it seems a Canadian version of Mav TV also got a licence from the CRTC some months back, and has been equally unsuccessful in actually getting carried by someone.

WSTV is listed on Rogers' website. so when it does launch, it'll likely be there. So, at least that's encouraging if they have it listed. It's on their free preview page as "coming soon".

What happened to this channel?! It appeared as though it would be launching and now the website just says 'coming soon' with no info if it will every launch?! I suspect they have not been successful in securing carriage with other providers and its probably not feasible to launch with only Rogers on board even though they are the largest cable company in Canada.

In all honesty, the content was pretty niche, I am not sure if it would have been successful?! I don't think many people would have been interested in watching German, Swedish or Swiss league hockey seeing as most people only care about Bettman's NHL. I think they should follow the Universal Sports channel in the USA and air Olympic sports that you normally don't see here outside of the Olympics for whatever reason?!
