    TORONTO (July 23, 2015)
    – Heading into another can’t-miss season of appointment television, CTV confirmed today its fall premiere dates for CTV and CTV Two. After a hit 2014/2015 season, which saw six of the Top 6 new series on CTV, four new, powerful dramas arrive in primetime to continue to strengthen CTV’s #1 schedule. The big-buzz series coming to CTV this fall: action-packed mystery-thriller BLINDSPOT, airing Mondays at 9 p.m. ET/PT beginning Sept. 21; explosive strike-it-rich family drama BLOOD & OIL and the not-to-be-missed time-shifting conspiracy drama QUANTICO, airing Sundays at 9 p.m. and 10 p.m. ET/PT respectively beginning Sept. 27; and adrenaline-driven hospital drama CODE BLACK, airing Wednesdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning Sept. 30.

As hot new series get ready to enter the schedule, fall also sees the return of last season’s top new series. It’s no joke that GOTHAM will see the addition of some new villains when it returns Mondays at 8 p.m. ET/PT, beginning Sept. 21, and it’s back to class with HOW TO GET AWAY WITH MURDER, airing Thursdays at 10 p.m. ET/PT beginning Sept. 24. On Tuesday, Oct. 6 Canada’s #1 new series of 2014/2015, THE FLASH returns at 8 p.m. ET/PT, followed by CSI: CYBER at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

September also ushers in a steady stream of returning fan favourite and Top 20 hits including THE BIG BANG THEORY and CASTLE (Sept. 21), GREY’S ANATOMY (Sept. 24), ONCE UPON A TIME (Sept. 27), MARVEL’S AGENTS OF S.H.I.E.L.D. (Sept. 29), CRIMINAL MINDS (Sept. 30), and ARROW (Oct. 7). Following an emotional and unforgettable Season 3 finale, CTV’s hit original drama SAVING HOPE returns for Season 4 following GREY’S ANATOMY, Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT beginning Sept. 24.

New series also add to the strength of the CTV Two fall lineup, with the live, anything-can-happen variety series BEST TIME EVER WITH NEIL PATRICK HARRIS. The series is set to premiere on CTV Tuesday, Sept. 15 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, and will later move to CTV Two to anchor its Tuesday night lineup. Also joining CTV Two is Season 3 of mystery-thriller SLEEPY HOLLOW, airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT beginning Oct. 1.

** Media Note ** – More information, photos, and cast bios, can be found at BellMediaPR.ca

Full episodes of CTV and CTV Two series will also be available live and on demand on CTV.ca and the CTV GO App. Previous seasons of select returning series are streaming now on CraveTV™, which will also feature a first-look for SAVING HOPE, with episodes available the day before their broadcast premiere.

Takeaways from today’s announcements (particularly the transitions from summer to fall).

    MONDAY
Rather quick transition between seasons as So You Think You Can Dance is scheduled to air its finale on September 14, just in time for the new and returning premieres the following week on September 21.

With Dancing with the Stars returning to Canadian airwaves this fall, it moves to Bravo from M3 for broadcast at the same time as ABC on Monday nights. It will air on CTV Two but for one time only on Monday night as the return of The Voice will push it to post-release broadcasts on Sunday nights. For premiere week, it will be a two-night event, making things interesting for CTV Two (see SUNDAY).

    TUESDAY
The Tuesday summer runs of Spun Out and Hot in Cleveland will likely conclude on September 1. Hot in Cleveland will probably go on the shelf following that date, while Spun Out will have five episodes remaining for Season 2.

Advanced listings have two episodes of Zoo scheduled to air on September 8, the same day Hollywood Game Night is scheduled to air its season finale on NBC. My guess is that CTV will air it in pre-release at 8:00pm.

Barring any changes, September 15 will consist of CTV’s Fall Preview special, the season finale of Zoo and the series premiere of Best Time Ever with Neil Patrick Harris, which gets a few weeks sampling on CTV before moving over to CTV Two.
It’s anyone’s guess what will air on September 22 (premiere week), as Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. is set to return on September 29, along with The Flash and CSI: Cyber returning on October 6.

Speaking of Best Time Ever, we know that it will be shifting timeslots on NBC at some point from 10:00pm to 8:00pm, but the date is still questionable – nothing has been confirmed via a press release from NBC. Some sources (The Futon Critic and Deadline) indicate October 13, others (TVLine, Variety, The Hollywood Reporter) mention September 29. Regardless, it will be off to CTV Two as of October 6.

    WEDNESDAY
Like Tuesdays, CTV has a small window for its transition. MasterChef is scheduled to finish on September 16. They have The Amazing Race Canada on that night as well – the finale could either air the same night or perhaps the week after on September 23. In the case of the latter, it would be an interesting form of counterprogramming against the season premieres of Survivor and Empire, and the season finale of Big Brother. The Goldbergs will get at least two weeks on the air before being bumped for the Arrow season premiere on October 7. It’s confirmed to return after Big Bang on Thursdays in November, so at least four episodes will be on the shelf, unless it gets a few weekly runs at 7:30pm. Criminal Minds and Code Black begin on September 30. The Mysteries of Laura goes directly to CTV Two.

    THURSDAY
Mistresses wraps up its current season on September 3, sandwiched between reruns - the sitcom duo of The Big Bang Theory/The Odd Couple and drama Saving Hope. Grey’s Anatomy, Saving Hope and How to Get Away with Murder all return for their new seasons on September 24. We’ll have to wait and see what they have on September 10 and 17 (the latter which will have Thursday Night Football on CBS). CTV Two has nothing to premiere here until October.

    FRIDAY
Quick transition for CTV as the return of The Amazing Race bumps up Shark Tank an hour in simulcast where it will stay until Grimm returns until late October. Unlike the last couple of years, no risk of Orphan Black getting bumped this time. Over on CTV Two, they’ve chosen to run movies until MasterChef Junior and Shark Tank join the schedule in late October and early November. I’m surprised they opted not to take advantage of airing Reign in simulcast for the first few weeks, rather than burying it in post-release Tuesdays at 10:00pm.

    SUNDAY
No surprise that the two-hour CSI finale on Sunday, September 27 ended up over on CTV Two, which is scheduling post-release airings of Dancing with the Stars for the evening. CTV will be using that night to pump its premieres including the new shows Blood & Oil and Quantico. For premiere week, Dancing with the Stars will air over two nights, so presumably, CTV Two will have to air one of the episodes on Saturday (normally reserved for CanCon reruns) and the other early on Sunday evening leading into the CSI finale).
