Actually, both Everfresh and Mayhem have submitted their names to become moderator and after discussing it with them, I've decided to accept them both as moderators. This should put PokerFace at ease with his concerns of a member being the supreme ruler of this forum. ;)

The forum went down Dec 31st, I noticed at around sometime 7pm (midnight Greenwich Time)... Thought that was it, Randy pulled the plug, TVViewer won.

    Hey look, it's back !
We had a good run: 2006 to 2020. Thanks for the informations and debates.

What happened?! I wonder if it was a hack attack?! In any event, not a good way to start the New Year.

Thought that was it, Randy pulled the plug, TVViewer won.

Sorry about that. This usually happens a few times a year. Usually, the site is back up within an 1 to 4 hours depending where I am when it crashes. This time though I was not home and I had limited internet access.

I don't believe he is going anywhere, this person loves stirring up trouble and creating controversy (constantly attacking people's opinions and comments and then if you dared challenge him, he would escalate and resort to personal attacks), I don't think his personality will allow him to leave. His account is still active which means he will reappear again at some point, maybe even under a different username although that won't work IMO as you will still know its him due to his unique style of posting.

I hope he actually does leave as some former members who no longer post here on a regular basis (like myself) might decide to return and breath some new life into this forum. He is the reason IMO that this forum has fallen to the point it has where there are only a handful of active posters, his divisiveness has driven people away or perhaps kept new members from signing up and joining the conversations. He constantly attacks those he doesn't like (mo matter what they post) and also attacks all comments in general that go against his personal views. I am sorry but this is a DISCUSSION forum, people are going to have different views on various topics, that is a fact of life as every person is different. Everyone is entitled to their opinion and I don't think you can really say whether someone's opinion is right or wrong as "The Divisive One'" loved to do. Differing opinions are what bring about heated discussions or debates, you can't go around trashing others just because they say something that doesn't fit with your view of the world.
I was another one of those members who decided to discontinue posting here because of the toxic atmosphere created by TVViewer because of his constant shilling for Shaw (and Canwest before that) and fee-for-carriage, his insistence that his opinion was the only one that was "right" (and, according to him, everyone else "was wrong/didn't know what they're talking about/etc."), his condescension toward those he didn't agree with (meaning almost everyone else here) when called out on his comments and his blatant dishonesty in revising his forum posts when caught in lies, then denying ever doing so and resorting to his usual tactics against those who call him out on it. With him now gone of his own accord (probably helped along by Randi's announcement seeking volunteer mods), I think this might lead to a renaissance for this forum with returning veteran posters and new members signing up here.

Hmm. Sure, TVViewer was a polarizing poster, but to blame him for the previous "toxic" environment in these forums isn't really fair (although there's obviously some accuracy to it, considering that there's ZERO toxicity here now - but that's only because we now have no "villain" to attack, and whenever TVViewer was treated disrespectfully - over and over again - he would eventually get frustrated and strike back - I can't say that I would definitely be able to restrain myself from fighting back in a similar fashion).

When InMontreal (our version of Columbo or even Sherbrooke Holmes) noticed a deletion made by TVViewer, I mentioned at the time, that it looked bad; TVViewer mentioned (if my memory serves me right) that he deleted his comment because he believed that InMontreal would keep using that comment over-and-over again in future arguments, so TVViewer felt that it was best to reduce the effectiveness of such a possible tactic in future debates between the two of them.

However, until I recently also came across an annoying poster in another forum that wouldn't leave me alone (kept posting incorrect things and hateful comments, but was protected by the lunatic mod), I couldn't understand the "logic" or satisfaction derived from the deletion of a past comment -- especially when it made the person deleting the comment look like a deceitful criminal.

Even if this site added 10,000 new posters/members in the next year without TVViewer's participation, it still doesn't guarantee that a website without TVViewer's participation is a "better" site.

If you want to get a taste of the toxic environment that can occur if posters don't agree to disagree, take a look at the thread linked below (in which even I took a few playful jabs at TVViewer's Shaw connection - but you'll notice that he responded in a respectful manner and only chose to lose his cool towards his most frequent haters - not that they deserved to be attacked, but at least they were "attacked" by an intelligent predator with an "entertaining" bite. Ouch, that broke the skin!):

I think Britney Spears said it best ...

    Baby, can’t you see
    I’m calling
    A guy like you
    Should wear a warning
    It’s dangerous
    I’m fallin’

    There’s no escape
    I can’t wait
    I need a hit
    Baby, give me it
    You’re dangerous
    I’m lovin’ it

    Too high
    Can’t come down
    Losing my head
    Spinning ‘round and ‘round
    Do you feel me now

With a taste of your lips
    I’m on a ride
    You're toxic
    I'm slipping under
With a taste of a poison paradise
    I’m addicted to you
Don’t you know that you’re toxic
And I love what you do

I for one would be sad to see the site go down. Whenever I needed help with TV related issues or questions, this was the first site I went to and I always got a quick response. Please keep us informed if there are any other ways we may be of help to keep the site going.

Sure, the forum ain't as active as it was, there are less topics to debate, the "Shaw : others" ratio is balanced, and most forums moved over to social media networks. Oh well...

He's still around, probably watching in offline mode.

Spring/Summer time is usually slower for Television, plus life and work have been pretty busy for me that I have less time to come online, but your response has been haunting my email inbox for the last two weeks, so I thought I make the effort to come online on my day off.
