    Icon1 Channel Canada Event Calendar

As Randi mentioned in the Moderator thread, I am helping out with the event calendar on the main Channel Canada website. I would like to get some feedback from people to see how many use this feature and what kind of content they would like to see listed in it. I have been including a bit of everything so far (current affairs shows, sports, movies, specials as well as TV show premieres & finales) but I would like to try and refine things and focus on the stuff people actually are interested in and discontinue posting events that no one is viewing.

If anyone uses this feature, let me know what you like/dislike and what kind of content you would like to see posted.

    Thanks.

IMHO, that column should be also integrated into the forum's right corner main page (http://discuss.channelcanada.com/forum.php). More eyeballs.
We had a good run: 2006 to 2020. Thanks for the informations and debates.

I would not have known the Star Trek animated series was being shown in a marathon on Space tomorrow if you hadn't made this post.

    Great idea, I agree.

There is a link to the Calendar at the top of the page under the main menu bar (see the list of links that begin with "New Posts"). This is not visible enough IMO, Randi please move this link to the main menu (beside What's New?) or if possible create some sort of menu button that will stand out. I don't think the calendar currently gets many views due to the lack of updates or perhaps due to some not even knowing it exists so something should be done to bring attention to this feature.

I've added a widget on the right sidebar and a link on the main menu, let me know what you think!

The right sidebar (for the calendar) is a great addition and it's a good reminder for what's to come.

I noticed the Katy Perry Prismatic World Tour 2015 concert listing for Super Channel and then googled it to figure out why I didn't recall its existence. It was apparently on Epix in March of this year, and is still available online for free on both YouTube and Amazon.com (free for Amazon Prime users - listed as 1 hour and 57 minutes, there). The Super Channel website listing says it's only 87 minutes, but the one online is 1 hour and 56 minutes (I scanned through it to make sure). Either Super Channel has a different version (very unlikely unless the description is wrong), or it's just a listing error that the programming guides will hopefully recognize.

[Katy Perry concert - Same description, but longer running time]

[Katy Perry concert - Same description, but shorter running time]

EDIT: Hmm, I think there actually might be two different versions of that Katy Perry concert. Super Channel is probably airing the regular broadcast version (about 30 minutes shorter) that I assume Epix first aired, but then I think Epix put up an extended version on its website (about 30 minutes longer), that is probably the same version that the Blu-ray and DVD releases have (which is what Amazon Prime might have). When wikipedia mentions there will be 30 minutes of exclusive extras on the DVD/Bluray, I assumed that they were separate extras, but perhaps they are just 30 minutes of extra songs and/or footage within the concert that the original Epix broadcast edited out. The version I scanned through had the occasional Epix logo and Tweet info appear on the screen, so it's not the DVD version, but since the framerate was about 30 fps, that usually means it was a later website rip, most likely the extended version (if such a thing truly exists - and I think it does).

Extra Notes: I rarely go to the Channel Canada main site (I went there yesterday and today and I liked it), mostly because I can never find a working link to get there from the main forum page (the Channel Canada link near the bottom of the main forum page goes nowhere). I just forget that the main site even exists (I'm not kidding).

I also can't find this link: http://discuss.channelcanada.com/forum.php , for the main forum site anywhere on the main forum page (just separate links for each sub-section of the forum -- like for General TV Discussion, etc., rather than the main link for everything at once). Sure, I can find plenty of links for the Activity Stream of forum posts, but not the main forum link. I'd like to have a true "Home" forum link (in case I want to quickly start over, or open up a new tab without using a bookmark, etc.).

Oh my. That main navigator bar has a very small area that recognizes my mouse pointer. I thought those were just headings that were unclickable or were just broken.

I have the search bar on top of the Channel Canada link (within the main navigator bar), but now I see that if I move my mouse pointer just right (away from the search bar), I turn the link blue and then it works (same with the Forums link). Might be something that my Chrome browser and extensions are doing, but at least I can get the links to work.

Hallelujah, I now see the light. :applouse:

^ Right, that's how mine looks. The darkness of the entire area makes it even more difficult to believe that it's an active area.

Wow, that looks awful... I've been using chrome for years as well so that is not why it is displayed like this in your case... Tell me, when you click on this link, do you notice any change in the display?

Can you tell me how this one looks?

The first link: ?styleid=10 displays the layout that Randi linked in post #7 and the 2nd link: ?styleid=6 is the light blue look.

Whatever link I click on last will become my new look (no style ID number is then shown in the url) ... even fresh from my bookmark.

    Victory!

I was aware of that, I did not change the listing as I was awaiting word about who had picked up the show but so far it appears as though no one has picked it up?!

On another note, does this mean that you look at the Event Calendar on a regular basis?! I have been wondering if anyone actually makes use of the calendar or if I am creating all these listings for nothing?!

I used to look at the calendar all the time, since it appeared in the forums and then I would often go to the main site to see what's there.

However, for the past month or so, I basically ignore the calendar because it's slow to fully load and interrupts me while I'm reading the titles of the recent posts that appear first.

So when I saw the Rizzoli and Isles listing in the calendar appear, I just quickly scrolled back down to what I was reading and immediately forgot all about the error.

As handy as the calendar might be, the slowroll (a poker term) or slower loading time than the actual page, actually annoys me. I don't think it ever loaded fast, but back when it was new to me, I didn't mind the wait ... but now I almost always only notice the first listing and then I quickly scroll down to continue my reading, before I was so "rudely" interrupted.

Perhaps if the calendar appeared somewhere else on the page and didn't interrupt or slow my reading, I might welcome it back into my life.
