Rhonda (Jenna Fischer), a mild-mannered librarian, finds herself dangerously out of her depth when she is sent to a maximum security prison for a crime she did not commit. She unwillingly befriends Leanne (Megan Mullally), an unhinged white supremacist who takes a deeply reluctant Rhonda under her wing. Then there is Jamie (Mathew Baynton), a humble bank manager who is hopelessly stuck in a rut and still in mourning over the mysterious disappearance of his wife seven years ago. There are 34 days until the comet collides with Earth and some of these misfits are destined to make it to a bunker deep beneath the English suburbs of Slough. As a result, they will become the incredibly unlikely, and totally unsuitable, future of mankind.

    Teen Choice 2016 Ė Sunday, July 31 at 8 pm ET/PT (Two-hour live event)
The two-hour live event honours the yearís iconic stars from the best films, most-loved TV shows, fiercest music, and the top moments in fashion, digital, and comedy with coveted Teen Choice Surfboard awards.

OK that is very informative, except that they have 3 shows Wednesday at 10pm. Maybe they should mention where they are going when the other one arrives?

Several inconsistencies with this press release, and accompanied with potentially messy scheduling scenarios:

The Night Shift is listed for its season premiere on Wednesday, June 1 at 10:00pm. 15 episodes are scheduled to air for Season 3. Yet, the listings on Global's website have a movie (Friends with Benefits) scheduled to air in that timeslot. Perhaps this will be updated in the upcoming days.

Another show is scheduled to air in that timeslot with the premiere of the new CBS drama American Gothic on Wednesday, June 22 following the 2-hour season premiere of Big Brother, so either The Night Shift or American Gothic will have to move to another timeslot - my guess is for the former.

With the return of Big Brother to the schedule three nights a week (Wednesday 8:00pm, Thursday 9:00pm, Sunday 8:00pm), what happens to new Canadian drama Private Eyes? At the very least, it will run for four weeks in the same timeslot from May 26 to June 16 but it's bound for another timeslot afterwards. If that's not enough, the cancelled NBC drama Game of Silence is scheduled to run back-to-back episodes on Thursday, June 2 at 9:00pm and the final episode on Sunday, June 5 at 10:00pm. So far, Global's listings on their website has Episode 108 listed for June 2 at 10:00pm (9:00pm on NBC) - perhaps they will run the remainder of the episodes once a week in that same Thursday 10:00pm timeslot.

What I do not get is they list the debut of the cancelled NBC/Sky limited series You, Me & the Apocalypse on Wednesday, June 29 at 10:00pm, so this does not make sense (since American Gothic already premiered In that slot a week earlier) unless it airs at 9:00pm or premieres on a different date. Plus, it's already available for streaming on shomi. It's worth noting however on that same week, NBC variety series Maya & Marty in Manhattan is pre-empted so they will make use of an available timeslot.

Just as I figured, they picked up the new CBS drama BrainDead on Monday nights to go with Containment (The CW) and Houdini & Doyle (FOX), both of which continue running through July.

Tuesday will have reruns of NCIS and NCIS: New Orleans, followed by Maya & Marty (NBC) through mid-July.

Wednesday will lead off with Big Brother (which also airs on Thursday). Bones continues its run on Thursday through July as well.

Friday has been home to Simpsons reruns, along with Hawaii Five-O and various Canadian reruns (which also air on Saturday).

Missing from their schedule: FOX's Hotel Hell (which will probably end up one of the Corus specialty channels).

    Some scheduling notes:

American Gothic (s-CBS) premieres on Wednesday, June 22 at 10:00pm. It will remain there and replace The Night Shift (NBC) in that timeslot. As of this time, no confirmation on where the latter will air as of that date. It should return as soon as a timeslot becomes available, though that may not be until next month or when NBC pre-empts regular programming for the Olympics in August.

You, Me & the Apocalypse makes its Global broadcast premiere on Wednesday, June 29 at 9:00pm for a ten-episode run.

Meanwhile, Houdini & Doyle (s-FOX) airs its season (or series) finale on Monday, July 4 at 9:00pm.
Maya & Marty (s-NBC) concludes its six-episode run on Tuesday, July 12 at 10:00pm.
The series finale of Containment (pre-CW) is scheduled to air on Monday, July 18 at 8:00pm. Throughout the show's run, Global has aired it one night before The CW (finale date Tuesday July 19)
Bones (s-FOX) finally concludes its eleventh season on Thursday, July 21 at 8:00pm.
Private Eyes has ten episodes - that would make Thursday, July 28 the tentative date for the finale.

Running Wild with Bear Grylls (NBC) returns for a new season on Monday, July 11 at 10:00pm. Global has BrainDead (s-CBS) in this timeslot. Also, NBC's show will have a rather sporadic run as it gets shelved for special live news coverage for the last two weeks (July 18 and 25). It is scheduled again on August 1 but then gets pre-empted for two more weeks thanks to the Olympics.

OK, that's just idiotic. Instead of shelving Night Shift and occupy the wed 9pm slot with a shelved show (Apocalypse), why aren't they just pre-empting Night Shift at 9pm ?
Sure, June 22nd has a 2-hours Big Brother premiere, June 29th has a Night Shift double shift on NBC, but there's some way to catchup when the schedule will clear in the following weeks (see Game of Silence NBC speedy burnoff vs. Global kept it thursdays), replace those Border Security fillers with the Apocalypse.

Also, even if The CW has lower cable penetration, I expected Global to move Containment in simulcast tuesdays 9pm, but I guess those NCIS-franchise reruns are as important as TBBT reruns are for CTV. Ad sales must have had a final say in scheduling decision.

Now that I think about it, Global can actually simulcast the Containment series finale with The CW on July 19 and push the reruns for NCIS: New Orleans an hour later to 10:00pm with Maya & Marty having finished its run, which would open up the Monday 8:00pm slot starting on July 18.

    More to come...

With Houdini & Doyle ending July 4th, advanced TV Listings reveals Global dropped The Night Shift in the monday 9pm slot staring July 11th, with episode 4, originally aired June 22nd on NBC.

NBC has episodes 5 & 6 June 29th, ep 7 July 6th, ep8 July 13th, then it's off the schedule July 20 & 27 for respectively Republican and Democratic conventions (Edit : a 9pm episode scheduled for July 27). A double-episode (9 & 10) is expected August 3rd then off the schedule for two weeks due to Olympic Games (Aug 5-21). Unless Global catchs up faster on TNS after Containment series finale July 18, the canadian broadcaster should air episode 10 by Aug 22nd. Unless CBS moves American Gothic due to low ratings...

With Containment series finale July 18 on Global, the CW-theme was kept by scheduling Crazy Ex-Girlfriend in the monday 8pm slot, starting with episode 4 on July 25. The first 3 episodes aired October 15-22-29 on Global before being exclusive to Showcase.

With 15 episodes left to go, it'll probably move to empty timeslots like friday 10pm, come mid-september.

So far, Global has never released a summer schedule. Interestingly enough, there had been one posted on the website for NTV (the independent station in St. John's, NL) that carries Global programming in primetime, but has since been removed.

Here's how I figure the Global schedule will look like going forward for the rest of the summer, starting the week of July 25:

    MONDAY
    8:00pm Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (S1) (post-CW) (until Sept. 12)
    9:00pm The Night Shift (S3) (post-NBC)
    10:00pm BrainDead (s-CBS) (until Sept. 12)

    TUESDAY
    8:00pm NCIS reruns (s-CBS)
    9:00pm Vikings (S4) (until Sept. 6)
10:00pm NCIS: New Orleans reruns (s-CBS)

    WEDNESDAY
    8:00pm Big Brother (s-CBS)
9:00pm You, Me & the Apocalypse (until Aug. 31)
    10:00pm American Gothic (s-CBS) (until Sept. 14)

    THURSDAY
8:00pm TBA (Bones season finale on July 21)
    9:00pm Big Brother (s-CBS)
10:00pm Private Eyes (season finale on July 28)

    FRIDAY
8:00pm NCIS: Los Angeles reruns (s-CBS)
    9:00pm Hawaii Five-O reruns (s-CBS)
    10:00pm Rookie Blue

    SATURDAY
    7:00pm 16x9 reruns
8:00pm Private Eyes (encores until Aug. 6)
    9:00pm CanCon (various)
    10:00pm CanCon (various)

    SUNDAY
    7:00pm The Simpsons reruns
    7:30pm Border Security
    8:00pm Big Brother (s-CBS)
    9:00pm Madam Secretary reruns (s-CBS)
    10:00pm Elementary reruns (s-CBS)

Assuming that Global keeps Crazy Ex-Girlfriend on Monday 8:00pm, it will be there for at least eight weeks (through episode 11), whitch would leave seven episodes in the can, unless another timeslot becomes available for them to air two episodes a week. Season 2 does not premiere on The CW until Friday, October 21.

The Night Shift is finally back after a few weeks off the Global schedule, inheriting the Monday 9:00pm slot previously filled by Houdini & Doyle. As already mentioned, NBC will have the show pre-empted next week (July 20) and for two weeks in August for the Olympics, however they will air two episodes on August 3. It will be tough for Global to catch up unless they can find a few weeks to air two episodes at least through the conclusion of the Olympics - by August 22, they will have arrived only at the first of two episodes scheduled for August 3 on NBC. This season had been picked up for 15 episodes, scheduled to air through September 7.

For the next couple of weeks, I expect it will switch time slots with BrainDead as CBS will be carrying live coverage of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. Likewise, the same would apply on Wednesday with American Gothic and You, Me & the Apocalypse. That also potentially opens up space for the two weeks on Tuesday 10:00pm where NCIS: New Orleans is scheduled to air (although Global might use it to fill the reruns that were pre-empted last week and this week to make room for Vikings and the season finale of NBC's Maya & Marty).

Meanwhile on Thursdays, there are holes to fill with Bones wrapping up on July 21 and Canadian drama Private Eyes concluding its first season in July 28. The schedule from NTV's website had NBC reality show Running Wild with Bear Grylls in post-release Thursday at 8:00pm - the new season was originally scheduled to begin this week on July 11, but was pushed back to August 1 and 2 for a two-night season premiere. After the Olympics, the show returns for four weeks on NBC Monday 10:00pm. It is still to be determined what will air Thursday 10:00pm in August.

It appears at this time that Global has no intentions to burn off the remaining episodes of cancelled CBS sitcom Angel From Hell, which the latter started airing on Saturday, July 2.

BrainDead moving to Sundays starting July 24

This was a change by CBS that most expected to happen, and in some ways, makes sense as they gradually make the transition to their Monday night lineup for the fall. For Global, this should also solve some of their scheduling dilemmas including The Night Shift.

With BrainDead being no longer on Monday, they have some options to work with, so here's what I project:

    MONDAY July 25
    8:00pm Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (S01 E04) (post-CW)
    9:00pm The Night Shift (S03 E06) (post-NBC 6/29)
    10:00pm The Night Shift (S03 E07) (post-NBC 7/6)

    MONDAY August 1
    8:00pm Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (S01 E05) (post-CW)
    9:00pm BrainDead (S01 E07) (post-CBS 7/31) **One-time only due to Teen Choice Awards and Big Brother post-CBS**
10:00pm Running Wild with Bear Grylls (season 3 premiere) (s-NBC)

    THURSDAY August 4
    8:00pm Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge (S01 E02) (post-NBC 6/20)
    9:00pm Big Brother (s-CBS) (new)
    10:00pm Running Wild with Bear Grylls (S03 E02) (post-NBC 8/2)

    MONDAY August 8 and 15
    8:00pm Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (post-CW)
    9:00pm Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (post-CW)

    10:00pm The Night Shift (post-NBC)

On one of these two weeks, The Night Shift may air two episodes in order to catch up with NBC post-Olympics

    MONDAY August 22
    8:00pm Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (post-CW)
    9:00pm The Night Shift (post-NBC)
10:00pm Running Wild with Bear Grylls (s-NBC)

MONDAY (from August 29 to September 12)
    8:00pm Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (post-CW)
    9:00pm Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (post-CW)
10:00pm Running Wild with Bear Grylls (s-NBC)

WEDNESDAY (from August 24 to September 7)
    8:00pm Big Brother (s-CBS)
    9:00pm The Night Shift (pre-NBC)
    10:00pm American Gothic (s-CBS)

    THURSDAY August 11 and 18
8:00pm Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge (post-NBC)
    9:00pm Big Brother (s-CBS) (new)
    10:00pm Crazy Ex-Girlfriend (post-CW)

THURSDAY (from August 25 to September 8)
8:00pm Spartan: Ultimate Team Challenge (post-NBC)
    9:00pm Big Brother (s-CBS)
10:00pm You, Me & the Apocalypse

Global will be burning off the remaining eight episodes of the cancelled CBS sitcom Angel from Hell as part of a weekend marathon on Saturday, July 30 and Sunday, July 31 from 4:00pm to 6:00pm. Each day will have a two-hour block of four back-to-back episodes.

CBS will have aired its final episodes one week earlier on Saturday, July 23.

The goons at Global that puts commercials on the air either didn't get the memo or didn't care about markets outside Toronto. I watched both Global Montreal 11pm news on saturday and sunday, and on the 1st commercial break, they promoted BrainDead at a special time monday 9pm, on both occasion.

Wow, Corus really like to play hide & seek to schedule them in late summer week-end afternoon. If you hadn't posted it, I would never have found it out.
I can understand CTV rescheduling OUAT in that slot during regular season, but not this one.

Global normally doesn't hesitate to simsub saturday night CBS crime dramas, but this summer they went 100% cancon (16x9, Private Eyes, Rookie Blue, True Crime Scene) and ignored the simsub opportunity for Angel From Hell burnoff.

BrainDead is pre-empted this week, in this case, tonight. CBS will air a rerun of Scorpion, leading in to the live coverage of the Republican National Convention. Starting with next week's episode, it will be on Sunday at 10:00pm in simulcast with CBS. The following week, it will probably be on Monday at a special time due to the Teen Choice Awards and Big Brother in post-release. And sigh...they are scheduling a rerun of NCIS: Los Angeles next Monday at 10:00pm.

Just like CTV and City, they've decided to go 100% CanCon on Saturdays to fulfill their annual requirements so that does not surprise me at all. Any shows from CTV that get the burnoff treatment end up going to CTV Two (i.e. Do No Harm, The Neighbours) and airing on weekend afternoons in the summer, or serve as time fillers following lengthy movies in primetime. City dumped episodes of America's Next Top Model on Saturday afternoons two seasons ago when it lost its spot on Friday nights.

Still doesn't make sense. The July 18 (tonight) scheduled episode was cancelled by CBS on July 15 and moved to next sunday. Tonight at 9pm on Global, it's "The Night Shift", says GlobalTV's website and Zap2It, and while CBS has the political convention, Global has a shelved NCIS:LA episode.

I have corrected my original post. BrainDead is off the air this week - it was originally scheduled for 9:00pm tonight when CBS announced their plans to air live news coverage of the Republican and Democratic National Conventions. CBS will air a rerun of Scorpion in its place both tonight and next Monday. BrainDead moves to Sunday effective next week. Thanks for clarifying.

*Sigh*. Montreal transmitter CKMI-DT's EPG (Electronic Program Guide) hasn't been updated, so my OTA PVR thinks Braindead airs at 9 and Night Shift at 10.
Another sign the smart technicians left for summer vacations.

As expected, the July 31 episode of Braindead is rescheduled for the next day, Aug 1st at 10pm. (Zap2It currently has it wrong with a 8pm airing plus the following episode in pre-release at 10).

Also, on tuesday 9pm, Vikings is out of the time slot (or schedule) after only 4 episodes. Rerun of Private Eyes, from the pilot, goes there, starting Aug 2nd.

My guess is that Vikings will move to Saturday as part of their CanCon block. Private Eyes will have finished its original run at the end of July - all they have left is an encore presentation of the season finale likely to air on the first Saturday in August.

We don't know yet what will air Thursday 10:00pm starting August 4.
