Possible renaming of Independent Stations thread (indieNET)

As you will see from the latest post regarding the yesTV fall schedule, the remaining stations in Canada that do not have affiliation with CBC, CTV, Global and City retain independent status, but are known collectively (though unofficially) as indieNET.

Under the Canadian Networks forums, we can rename the forum for Independent Stations to the following: Independent Stations (indieNET)

    Just a suggestion.

I love that they gave themselves a name.

The Group of Seven, The Magnificent Seven, 7 Up, and now indieNET.

indieNET ... die is our middle name, but death is out of the question! We're seven deadly sinners looking for trouble. If we can't pay our bills, we'll also apply for bankruptcy protection.

We're looking for a new member to join our D-League. Eight is enough to become The Shady Bunch.

The Shady Bunch ... we spend our lives in the shade because they stick us where the sun don't shine.

Sound familiar, Super Channel ? You know what it's like to be ignored by the masses. Stay strong and embrace the shade. The shade won't give you skin cancer like the sunshine will.

Power to the indies !!! ... Death be not proud !!!
Warning: I'm not playing with a full deck.

Interesting approach, but the newly renamed forum section would exclude Zoomer's Winnipeg CIIT (HopeTV), Norouzi's Montreal CFHD (ICI), province channels (TVO), and discussion about independently owned affiliates (CHEX, CKPR/CHFD)...
We had a good run: 2006 to 2020. Thanks for the informations and debates.

Like InMontreal said, there are more indie stations out there other than the indieNET stations. You could split the forum into two - one for indieNET and other stations, but that would be pointless as there's so few extra indie stations out there it would likely be empty and chances of the indieNET thing to last long term is not likely. Plus, who actually knows what indieNET is anyways?

Now that I think about it and after having read the last couple of replies, we can just leave the forum title for Independent Stations as it already is. I don't see any need to split it in to two forums for reasons already mentioned.

I overlooked the fact that there were other independent stations out there so that's where I made my mistake. I have noticed that many, if not all of the posts within this forum pertained to the stations that are now associated with the indieNET brand, particularly with yesTV, CHCH and CHEK just to name a few.

I was fully aware that it is not even an official brand at the same level as the other Canadian networks (just like NET5 was last year). Indeed, many people probably wouldn't even know, recognize or even care what it really is.

Having said that, I see no point to continue this particular thread. I will leave it up to the moderator to decide whether this thread can be cleared altogether.

The thing about the newly created indieNET, though, is that out of its seven stations, two of them - CHCH and Yes TV flagship CITS - are both located in Hamilton (as part of the GTA market), while two others - CHEK Victoria and Joytv (CHNU) Surrey - are both viewable in the Vancouver-Victoria market (although Joytv is apparently not available on Shaw systems on Vancouver Island north of Victoria), so this could create a dilemma for CHCH and either CHEK or Joytv.

They're in competition, but it just makes things easier for programming acquisition and ad sales versus the bulk sales from Bell, Corus and Rogers.

The only reason Rogers launched Citytv Montreal (from Channel Zero) was access to the national advertisement level. Independent stations have access to better ressources with indieNET, from what I understand.
