    Madam Secretary

According to Globaltv.ca, Madam Secretary has a new time slot -- Friday, March 10th at 10 pm. Does this mean the show is not doing well and will soon be cancelled?

No, I would not think that's the case - it's just part of Global's scheduling changes for midseason with the debut and return of several shows.

As of Sunday, March 5 at 9:00pm, Global has chosen to air the new NBC drama Chicago Justice, so that bumps Madam Secretary to another timeslot. On the same evening, NBC drama Shades of Blue returns for a new season at 10:00pm, therefore displacing Elementary to a yet to be determined timeslot.

They recently picked up another NBC drama Taken, which will replace Timeless, starting Monday, February 27 at 10:00pm, so no room for Madam Secretary on Mondays, with the sitcoms Kevin Can Wait and Man with a Plan already there, along with pre-release airings of NCIS: New Orleans.

Tuesdays are already full with NCIS, Bull and Chicago Fire.

Wednesday will be booked with Survivor and Chicago PD. Presumably after Mary Kills People finishes its run, that will be replaced by Big Brother Canada in the 9:00pm timeslot.

Thursdays are full with Superstore/The Great Indoors, Chicago Med and the new Blacklist spinoff.

Aside from MacGyver and Hawaii Five-O on Fridays, the 10pm timeslot has been one of the few slots available.

Only NCIS: Los Angeles looks to be staying put on Sundays.

Doesn't viewership go down the further you go during the week? Therefore, they are risking that the ratings for the show will go down? Wouldn't it have been better to put it in the NCIS: Los Angeles time slot? Madam Secretary would be a better lead-in, especially now.

Madam Secretary was off the schedule for all 4 weeks of february, episode 14 will air march 2nd on CBS, will be pre-empted April 2nd due to Country Awards, and 23 episodes were ordered, meaning if no other interruption or any rerun, season finale is set for May 14 (same date for Elementary with 24 episodes). Chicago Justice is a new show, and Shades of Blue returns with 13 episodes, so none of CBS of NBC shows is expected to go into reruns 'till their respective season finale in may.

Which brings us back to NBC's sunday lineup, which they never had luck with ratings after the end of football season. Carmichael/Crowded last year, A.D./American Odyssey in 2015, Believe/Crisis in 2014 ... Either NBC messes up with the schedule for shows they don't like, improvise some NBC Dateline on a hot topic, move it to the saturday graveyard, etc...

SOOOOOO, Global will evaluate the ratings potential for NBC's new shows in simulcast for march. If they perform poorly or less than the Secretary/Elementary duo, they'll swap the lineup starting Apr 9th or if NBC starts messing around with the schedule. Not sure if having Secretary and/or Elementary in pre-release saturday would be a good idea...

As per advanced listings, Global's new Sunday night lineup as of March 5:

    7:00pm Elementary (pre-CBS)
    8:00pm NCIS: Los Angeles (s-CBS)
    9:00pm Chicago Justice (s-NBC)
    10:00pm Shades of Blue (s-NBC)

Madam Secretary moves to Fridays 10:00pm in post-release starting March 10.

The Simpsons gets bumped from its regular Sunday night timeslot just in time for the spring - for the third year in a row.

With Big Brother Canada making its return to the schedule three times a week (Monday 9:00pm / Wednesday 9:00pm / Thursday 8:00pm), this will probably push Global to timeshift Chicago Fire or NCIS: New Orleans in pre-release Tuesday at 7:00pm, while sitcoms Superstore and The Great Indoors will be shelved and used as time fillers when regular programming is pre-empted.

CBS primetime programming on Thursday and Friday is pre-empted for two weeks in March due to the NCAA March Madness Basketball Tournament. They also have the Academy of Country Music Awards on Sunday, April 2 (unless it airs on Global again like they did last year). Also, MacGyver ends its season on Friday, April 14 so some space will open up after that.
