Following the fall schedule announcements from the Canadian networks and their new acquisitions:

All new shows scheduled to premiere this fall have confirmed rights in Canada. The CW's Dynasty will be distributed globally on Netflix outside of the U.S.

Empire (FOX) - Wednesday 8:00pm
First two seasons were owned by Rogers - first on OMNI and second split between City and shomi (SVOD). Exclusive to shomi halfway through season 2 and until early part of season 3 with new episodes available following broadcast. No Canadian rights for remainder of season 3. Picked up by CHCH in simulcast for season 4.

Fresh Off the Boat (ABC) - Tuesday 8:30pm
Rights to first two seasons exclusive to shomi (SVOD). New episodes available following broadcast as of season 2. No Canadian rights for season 3. Picked up by CHCH in simulcast for season 4.

Jane the Virgin (The CW) - Friday 9:00pm
Previous rights were exclusive to shomi (SVOD), all three seasons available for streaming on Netflix. New episodes added the next day following original broadcast. Renewed for season 4.

Riverdale (The CW) - Wednesday 8:00pm
Star (FOX) - Wednesday 9:00pm

Both shows debuted midseason 2017 and were acquired by Netflix - new episodes added for streaming the next day following original broadcast.

Speechless (ABC) - Wednesday 8:30pm
No Canadian broadcaster for season 1. Season 2 picked up by Rogers for City and airing Friday 9:30pm in post-release.

Superior Donuts (CBS) - Monday 9:30pm
No Canadian broadcaster for season 1. Season 2 picked up by Corus for Global and scheduled for midseason 2018 debut. Season 1 will air on CMT Canada.

iZombie (The CW)
Previous rights were exclusive to shomi (SVOD), all three seasons available for streaming on Netflix. New episodes added the next day following original broadcast. Renewed for season 4.

Moves from CTV Two to City, airing in simulcast for first time since fall 2015 where it aired on Bell Media specialty channel Bravo and CTV Two in post-release on Sunday nights. Fall cycle for 2016-2017 season aired exclusively on CTV Two Sunday nights in post-release. As of 2015, spring cycles aired only on ABC.

To Tell the Truth (Season 3) (ABC) - Sunday 8:00pm
Moves from City to CHCH, first season aired summer 2016 on City, second season on OMNI

SPORTS
Thursday Night Football (CBS from Sept-Oct and NBC from Nov-Dec, all games shown on NFL Network)
Rights moved from Rogers (City and Sportsnet) to Bell Media (CTV Two and TSN). Starting in Fall 2014, games were carried on OMNI, then switched to City for 2015 and 2016 (only for CBS games, NBC games aired on Sportsnet).
As of Fall 2017, TSN and CTV Two will carry all Thursday games.

‘Dynasty’: Netflix To Distribute The CW Reboot Internationally Via Deal With CBS Studios Int’l

In a pretty unique deal for a broadcast series, Netflix has acquired global rights to the CW’s upcoming reboot of Dynasty for all international territories outside of the U.S.

Dynasty is produced by CBS TV Studios. The deal for the show between CBS Studios International and Netflix follows a similar pact between the two companies for another reboot of a series with global name recognition: Star Trek: Discovery. The sci-fi drama, which will run on CBS’ streaming service CBS All Access in the U.S., will have Netflix as its exclusive premiere home in 188 countries (excluding the U.S. and Canada), with each episode available globally within 24 hours of its U.S. premiere.

...Dynasty is expected to launch globally in the fall, premiering around the world on Oct. 11 simultaneously with its U.S. debut on the CW.

In anticipation of the Netflix deal, the Dynasty pilot was not shown to international buyers at the L.A. Screenings last month. With its heavy serialization, the soapy drama is considered a great fit for international distribution on a streaming platform.
The international deal compliments the domestic streaming pact Netflix has with the CW affiliated studios CBS TV Studios and Warner Bros. TV for library rights to all of the network’s scripted series, which also covers Dynasty.

Just as I expected, none of the Canadian networks picked it up. In terms of The CW's new shows for 2017-18, Bell Media picked up midseason series Life Sentence for Bravo while Corus picked up the other fall newcomer Valor for W Network. That leaves only Black Lightning (another DC Comics-based series) without confirmation for broadcast and/or distribution in Canada. Netflix also picked up Insatiable, one of two shows that The CW had in development and was picked up to pilot but not ordered to series.

CTV will be airing The Big Bang Theory on Mondays at 8:00pm in simulcast with CBS through late October, when it will move back to its regular Thursday 8:00pm timeslot.

I had a feeling CTV had changed their Monday night schedule this year. Too bad because it's a conflict for me with Murdoch Mysteries. Not to mention Supergirl.

I can't wait for Rise. I think I've read somewhere it starts airing in March. Can anyone confirm or deny that?
