    Explanation : ROGERS.

Shameless used to be scheduled during the summer on Citytv, but lots of scenes were cut off to fit in a 60-minutes timeslot with commercials. Since they started scheduling strip comedies at 10pm (2BG marathons), the show was dumped to FX/FXX.

Anyways, Rogers programmers don't care. As long as subscribers are there for the big first-run shows and they can air them again 3 hours later for the west coast, they're happy. It's just like how they program their Sportsnet channels : They'll use all 4 regional feeds for a Toronto game and use Sportsnet One (seperate licence, digital only) for any other live sport. Next week, Rogers Cup tennis. When the Blue Jays are on, it's on all 4 regional feeds, while ATP dumped on SN1, WTA dumped on SN360. The rest of the day, who cares...

As for Citytv, when I watch BT Montreal (I can't stand the Toronto guy on Global Montreal), they fill some 60 or 90-seconds unsold ad spots with the old 4:3 "Acorn Stairlifts" commercial featuring old people and at the end, announcer repeats 2 times and fast the phone number, « Call Now »... 2 seconds... 1 second... (another announcer's voice) « Call Now » ! If it's not that Acorn crap, it's that repetitive Canadian Protection Plan 60-secs commercial. Huh. Those ads are at the same annoyance level as Trivago and Marineland. C'mon Rogers, give those precious minutes back to the BT hosts for panels and couch discussions, which sometimes feel like they're rushed for time.

    FXX :

Looks like Rogers is becoming similar to Corus's lazy commercial/cancon situation

If they want marathon, show some different episodes

Rogers was the pioneer of "let's use specialty channels only for live sports and 1st run TV series", while for the 20-23 other hours of the day, it's a zombie channel, no man alive will be able to tolerate such a lineup of repetitive shows and commercials. Corus does a better job compared to this.

I recently took a look at old TV lineups. RDS (TSN's french-language channel) in the 90's used to run an 8-hours clockwheel : every show that aired during the day/evening was repeated overnight and again in he morning/afternoon. Look at Sportsnet. in 2017. Sportsnet Central in loop until an afternoon baseball game or until Tim & Sid at 4pm (Sportsnet Radio simulcast, I think?). There are just no sports rerun in the morning (unless it's live from Australia), even on PayTV Sportsnet World priced at 20$/month.

AMC does marathons the right way. Boom, Breaking Bad marathon sundays 10am to 11pm.

Glad i'm not a sports fan, glad i'm not paying for sports, i'm just a cinephile. Sportsnet's broadcast habits don't seem to match up to $20expensive, putting things on the loop. FXX was a bad idea in the first place, If they want the FX suite, merge FX + FXX into 1 STRONG FX, also for their movie selections, garbage too, 20th Century-Fox is a great studio but you just cannot live off just Fox forever, look at the US FXes, they air all types of studios liscenced to air, Sony, WB, Universal, Paramount nad from the Disney catelogue + few others, + Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer/United Artists/Orion (which Fox has the home video rights to). Rogers airs all these studios on Viceland, they could share it with the FXes. I'm not thinking of a way to bother subscribing if this is Rogers's motto- just some zombie channel most of the time as a cash grab. And if Sportsnet wants multiple feeds, why are they half-zombie presented??

Rogers seems to be pretty cheap with their programming, making some of their stuff rip-offs

Its Rogers, what do you expect?!

All these guys know is sports- the people in charge of programming these channels are most likely sports people so they haven't got a clue. Also, Rogers does not own any other similar channels so they don't have any other place to source programming from like Bell & Corus do. They have to go out and purchase the rights to other series/movies to air on FX & FXX, whereas Bell & Corus spread various shows around, airing them on several of the various channels they own.

FXX is a pure cash grab IMO, it airs 2 or 3 original shows with the rest being either cancon filler or repeats of the same episodes like you watched. FX & FXX should be merged together but that would make too much sense so it will never happen.
