    [PR] SuperChannel is rebranding

Super Channel Fuse and Super Channel Heart & Home to launch June 4
Fresh new on-air and on-line look to be revealed later this Spring

EDMONTON, April 11, 2018 /CNW/ - Super Channel is pleased to announce that it will undergo a significant transformation on June 4, 2018 with the introduction of an overall corporate rebrand, as well as a repositioning and reprogramming of two of its existing channels.

Super Channel One (SC1) and Super Channel Two (SC2) will be rebranded as Super Channel Fuse and Super Channel Heart & Home. These will join existing channels, Super Channel Vault and GINX Esports TV Canada, to form a newly branded suite of channels, under the Super Channel Entertainment Network flagship brand.

Details about the company's new corporate branding elements, including a fresh new on-air and on-line look, will be unveiled later this spring prior to the June 4th launch of the rebrand. New channel logos and on-air look for Super Channel Fuse, Super Channel Heart & Home and Super Channel Vault will tie into the company's new corporate logo and branding. GINX Esports TV Canada will retain its current logo and brand identity, while complementing the new look.

"The newly rebranded and repositioned Super Channel will offer subscribers value and variety for every member of the household," said Don McDonald, President and CEO. "We have been actively engaging with our subscribers and listening to what they tell us they want to see. Each channel's program offering will be a distinct and diverse cross-section of programming, offering one-stop entertainment at an attractive and affordable subscription price point."

Super Channel is premium entertainment at its best, offering four diverse and dynamic HD/SD channels, plus Super Channel On Demand, free with each subscription. The new channel line-up will include:

    Super Channel Fuse
    (formerly SC1):

A dynamic fusion of premium programming including exclusive series, movies, documentaries, sports, stand-up comedy and concerts. All uncut and commercial free. Programming includes current Super Channel exclusive series such as Homeland, Berlin Station, Mr. Mercedes, Get Shorty, Harlots, ICE, Deep State and the upcoming American Gods. Canadian series include Forgive Me and What Would Sal Do?, as well as the recently announced Super Channel Original series PURE.

    Super Channel Heart & Home
    (formerly SC2):

Feel-good entertainment featuring heartwarming and wholesome series and movies, for everyone in your home. TV you can trust, with shows you'll love. Programming to include all five seasons of When Calls the Heart, seasons one through three of Cedar Cove, as well as a variety of Hallmark Channel Original movies, with future programming to be announced.

Super Channel Vault (launched April 2017):

A hand-picked collection of fan favourites and critically acclaimed movies, spanning a variety of genres and decades, including such hits as Alien, Slumdog Millionaire, The Green Mile, Million Dollar Baby, The Shining, Sherlock Holmes and Risky Business.

    GINX Esports TV Canada
    (launched May 2017):

The definitive source for Canadian esports enthusiasts, featuring live tournaments, news and gaming lifestyle programming from around the world.

    Super Channel On Demand:

"Heart & Home" actually sounds "Hallmark and Lifetime movies", but rebranding the main channel by adding "Fuse" at the end will just confuse viewers and is unnecessary. When subscribers hear about a movie or a TV series premiering on Super Channel, they'll be looking for it on the main channel's schedule.

In the states, HBO has the main channel plus Comedy, Family, Signature, Zone, etc., Cinemax has the main channel plus MoreMax, ActionMax, OuterMax, etc.
I don't see the point in rebranding the main SC. Maybe they should redirect their efforts in an app for Google Play and the App Store, compatible with Chromecast and AirPlay.

Makes me wonder if Its because of Movie Network rebranding MEncore as Starz! Canada next year is the reason why they are doing that?!!! I say who knows.

I don't really get the point of this re-brand?! The Heart & Home channel should have been re-branded as 'Hallmark Channel Canada', that is where a lot of the programming is coming from based on the info in the press release. It will be airing 2 Hallmark original series (When Calls the Heart and Cedar Cove) as well as Hallmark movies so why not just rename it Hallmark Channel?! This brand is quite popular now south of the border, I am actually a bit surprised that no one has launched a Canadian version of this channel?! W Network has the rights to 2 Hallmark shows (Good Witch & Chespeake Shores), however I am sure Super Channel could get the rights to older seasons of these series unless Corus has exclusive rights to these shows?!

As for the main channel, I agree that it should remain as Super Channel. I also don't understand why these channels are still being sold together as one suite?! They have 4 different channels (SC1- series/movies, SC2- Hallmark programming/lifestyle, SC3- old movies, SC4- gaming/ e-sports) that don't really fit together IMO. They should break apart this package and just market & sell each channel individually. Perhaps the agreements they currently have in place with the BDU's won't allow for this to happen since Super Channel was originally a suite of 4 channels airing movies & TV series like TMN.

If they didn't want to pony up to pay for the use of the name Hallmark Channel then that is probably why it is being called Heart & Home. They have just picked up (some) programming rights and not the use of the name Hallmark name.

Hallmark has tons of TV movies. On sat Apr 28, CTV scheduled one from the "Garage Sale Mystery" series. Looks like Hallmark sells bits to Bell, Corus, Allarco, and Remstar for V (dubbed in french). Allarco just got out of bankrupcy status, lost out contracts to Bell, I don't think they have enough money to secure exclusivity to the "Hallmark" brand as Bell and Corus can outbid it easily...
Just like Corus launched ABC Spark, expected home of all ABC Family / Freeform original series but Bell keeps buying some series for Bravo and international deals with Netflix include Canada...

So Chesapeake Shores that was on W for it's first 2 seasons is mobing to SuperChannel Heart & Home for it's 3rd season later this year.
So looks like they have bring back some shows or movie/movie series that have been on other channels.

It would be easier to follow, if ALL of the Hallmark content was available on one channel, but of course that's not going to happen here. And as long as Super Channel still avoids showing any logos or clutter during the shows, it would be best to watch the content there.

The Hallmark Channel itself happens to be one of the most annoying channels when it comes to filling the screen with clutter. Hey, you are watching another Hallmark movie, but tune in next week for yet another one of our movies filmed in Canada that often even air on youtube (in 720p) before they actually air in Canada.
Warning: I'm not playing with a full deck.
