    Changes at V

A couple of recent changes to report on Quebec's V network:

    * As of last Wednesday, the logo has been changed- it's now a white V inside an orange square.
    * As of early this morning, the network now signs-off between 2 and 6am ET...a logo animation and a note indicating that programs return at 6am now air in those hours, dropping the sex-line ads that used to air in the slot (2 hours of Moment V also air midnight-2am; Moment V also airs 6-10am ET weekdays, with regional NVL newsbreaks at 7:55, 8:55 and 9:55 ET).

Vtele decided to go in a new direction. They lost significant advertisers with their so-called "trashy programming" reputation, so they now target women, the household decision-makers. New logo, sure, but the same shows are still on until their respective series finale and get replaced.

"Moment V" is part of Slow TV format, popular in Norway. Think "Stingray Ambiance" channel, but the producer instead put an HD camera on top of his vehicle in and around Iles-de-la-Madeleine, stopped at the water's edge.

The overnight sex-line ads were ridiculous, it was the same 29 minutes segment over and over, consisting of cute girls in bikinis, suggestive moves, in different locations, mostly nice backyards with a pool. Then solo girl... omg, she's gonna remove her top... and.... fade to segment where female announcer suggests to call to talk to one of the girls (How many idiots fell for that?). Oh, and as always, they advertised a 1-800 toll-free number "free trial", then it must be a 1-900 number advertised at a 1-time fee of 41$ for like 10 minutes... Anyways, good riddence !

Back in mid 90's when TQS was experiencing financial troubles, for one summer, the network signed-on at 4pm.

Though some of the location captions on Moment V are somewhat dodgy...a recent program travelling A-20 from Montmagny (actually, the provincial rest stop about 15 min west) to La Pocatiere had captions claiming that they were in the Gaspesie...neither Montmagny or La Pocatiere are even remotely near the Gaspesie by any definition of the word

Changes were made in recent months on the weekday 6-7am hour of Moment V...a rerun of the previous day's NVL airs at 6am, with Moment V now starting at 6:30.

Speaking of NVL...how many V affiliates air locally-produced headlines (as compared to the Attraction Images-produced ones)? CFVS in the Abitibi-Temiscamingue region airs local headlines (as well as a 30-min show at 5pm-this was added when CKRN went dark). I don't have access to either CFTF (Riviere-du-Loup/Rimouski/Carleton markets) or CFGS (Gatineau/Ottawa) on Bell TV, what do they do?
