Interesting that they think they will succeed where OLN (Outdoor Life Network) didn't. Although OLN is just another acronym network that bears no resemblance to its original mandate.

Very true. OLN is among a handful of specialty channels that launched in the pre-digital (analog) era that have not only drifted from their mandate but has nothing original to offer nowadays. Even worse for the most part with Rogers having ownership. It's become nothing more than marathons of four shows: Fail Army, Impractical Jokers, Storage Wars and Storage Wars Canada. Only a small block of shows for fishing and snowmobiling/dirt riding on Saturday and Sunday mornings surrounded by infomercials to fill out the rest of the schedule.

And one more in the category: Canadian Zombie channel.

If I remember correctly, Rogers tried to convert OLN into a Sportsnet channel, but the CRTC denied the application. I think Rogers tried to broadcast the annual outdoor january NHL game, and some baseball games (which are somewhat "outdoors" without a roof over a stadium) but the CRTC told them "no professional sports" on the channel as licence conditions. The last time OLN was useful was during the 2010/2012 Olympics. Nowadays, it's garbage. Wait, why haven't Rogers pulled the plug yet and put it out of its misery? Oh... numbers !

On Dec 31st, 2017, the channel still counted 4,379 million subscribers who paid $10.24 millions, advertisers contributed almost $5 million, but with production and acquisitions costs reduced to cheap library programming, no more employees as the channel operates from a server in the bottom of a closet, the channel managed to bring $12,42 millions in profits to Rogers' shareholders.
    Yay.
