Toronto, Canada – Global is pulling back the curtain on its vibrant and diverse 2019-2020 lineup of extraordinary television. Featuring 12 new series for the broadcast year, including eight new primetime series, one new daytime talk show, one new late-night series, and a landmark comedy taking its final bow on Global, the network offers Canadians a full-service platform for the hottest shows on TV in every genre, anytime they want it.

Last fall, Global delivered another must-watch season of TV, growing its core primetime audience by 17% for A25-54 and 18% amongst millennials*. Increasing its presence in the Top 20 programs, the network looks ahead to a new fall schedule that combines seven new primetime series with 15 solid returning hits. From thrilling dramas to witty comedies, and late-night specials by Hollywood’s boldest and brightest creators, Global’s fall 2019 lineup welcomes a new roster of stars headlining the schedule including:

MONDAYS
Global kicks off the week with an all-new Monday night lineup, including Season 3 of spring’s Top 10 hit 9-1-1, leading into one of the most-buzzed about new series, crime thriller Prodigal Son, and closes the night with legal drama Bull.

TUESDAYS
Last year’s Tuesday night drama lineup delivered impressive audiences and will remain intact with franchise heavyweights NCIS: New Orleans and NCIS, paired with the sophomore seasons of last fall’s breakout hits including Top 20 series FBI and last fall’s #1 new drama New Amsterdam.

WEDNESDAYS
The #1 reality series Survivor returns for an epic 39^th season, while the final season of Modern Family and the sophomore season of Single Parents find a new home on Global. Wednesday wraps up with Top 20 series S.W.A.T, which grew its audience year-over-year.

THURSDAYS
Comedy reigns on Thursday night with Global’s new two-hour comedy block beginning with quirky comedy Superstore, followed by new single-camera The Unicorn, then cult darling The Good Place, leading into new multi-camera sitcom Carol’s Second Act. The night concludes with the new, psychological mystery drama Evil.


FRIDAYS
As a rock-solid night for the network, Friday’s established hit Hawaii Five-0 starts the night followed by crime drama The Blacklist, and military drama SEAL Team.

SATURDAYS
EMMY^® Award-winning and Canada’s #1 late-night show for millennials and A25-54, Saturday Night Live returns for an astounding 45^th season.

SUNDAYS
Global ends the week with the revival of family favourite, Kids Say The Darndest Things, joining Sunday night staples NCIS: Los Angeles and the final season of political drama Madam Secretary.

Fall 2019 also offers new daytime talk show Tamron Hall which will air weekdays, while late-night welcomes a new face with Canadian digital sensation Lilly Singh in A Little Late With Lilly Singh.

MIDSEASON

Heading into 2020, Global’s schedule is loaded with new Canadian content, fresh acquired series, and audience-favourite returning hits. Top 20 series MacGyver moves later this season, along with comedies Will & Grace and Man With a Plan. Canada’s most infamous televised social experiment, Big Brother Canada is also back with an all-new season of scheming, backstabbing, and outrageous drama. Joining the 2020 lineup is another group of notable A-listers including:

CBS's The Neighbourhood is missing. CTV already announced picking up the 8:30pm CBS sitcom Bob Hearts something, so it either comes with Neighb or a TBBT rerun filler (god no!) at 8.

As for Modern Family, I presume City/FX will keep the syndication rights.

The Neighbourhood is not listed in the Global shows on this page, so either CTV picked it up to pair with Bob or nobody took it. But it is a stong good performer in the States, not sure here.

Why did they release the fall info today, I thought the fall upfront is next week?!

Looks like a realignment has taken place with regards to the US networks. Global now airs mostly CBS shows, CTV is a mix of ABC & Fox and Citytv airs mostly NBC shows, except for the FOX animated series.

I recall a while back when the Canadian broadcasters kept any news of their fall offerings under lock and key, even to the point where various trade publication sites (Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Deadline) were refrained from posting anything before the day of their respective upfronts. At the time, these were the first sites that published or provided any scoop on what they acquired from the annual Los Angeles Screenings, especially before the growth of social media sites including Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Sporadically, the broadcasters would be the first to tease about their acquisitions.

For the most part, with social media and how word travels quickly nowadays, this sort of all changed about roughly five years ago. In 2014, Bell Media was the first to tease about the new shows they picked up from the L.A. Screenings for CTV with over a week to go before they held their annual upfront presentations. That year, they walked away with the likes of long-running shows such as Gotham and The Flash. Other broadcasters including Shaw and Rogers were tight-lipped and held back from posting anything until the week of the Canadian upfronts.

Gradually, they would go on to issue or send out press releases in the days before their upfront presentations. I have to admit I was surprised by all the information that was released this week and rather early as well. After CBC, the other broadcasters usually wait until the first week of June. Considering how Rogers cancelled their upfronts this year, I was anticipating that they would have not released their plans for a few more weeks. Corus generally puts out their content on the Monday of upfront week, while Bell waits until the actual day of their upfronts to release everything.

It comes down to the existing long-term output deals that the Canadian broadcasters already have with the production studios. For the longest time now, CTV has been longtime partners with ABC Studios and Warner Brothers. Likewise, Global has had a strong partnership with CBS Television Studios. Up until this year it seems, Citytv had an output deal with 20th Century FOX. With Disney purchasing FOX, that certainly created the biggest realignment, causing a shift in their output deal with the Canadian broadcasters, and helping to explain why CTV ended up picking up more FOX shows.

I would not rule out the possibility that Global still has rights to the show. They probably have it reserved on the shelf just in case it is ready to step up and fill a hole for any shows that get cancelled early on. They can also serve as a substitute for FOX's Monday lineup when it gets pre-empted for any specials or live sporting events.

Global does not see it as much of a priority compared to 9-1-1, which likely brought in better numbers while airing in simulcast, although it could probably make its return midseason on Mondays while 9-1-1 goes on the bench and the spin-off is running on CTV.

Remember what happened with Chicago Med and Chicago Fire last year? Both shows were missing in action when Global released their fall schedule. They eventually turned up in post-release, filling several holes on Fridays and Saturdays. And in January, they aired in simulcast with NBC in between seasons of Survivor. Clearly they won't have that issue this fall, now that all three Chicago shows have moved over to Citytv.

The Neighborhood is staying on Global. It will air Mondays at 7:30pm (pre-CBS) this fall.

I already noticed the "We got this" under the Global logo yesterday night. Remember "Global's Got It" slogan from late 90s - early 2000s ?

On Mon Oct 7, 2019, CBC, CTV, and Global are airing the "Federal Leader' Debate" from 7pm to 9pm ET.

Global opted to bump Fox's "9-1-1" to... 2:07am, followed by CBS's Neighbourhood at 3:07am.Tuesday 7pm is already busy with NCIS:NO in pre-release. 2:07am, that's after Colbert, Lilly Singh, ET Canada and ET US. Anyways, set your PVR.

Over CTV, pre-release of ABC's Conners and simsub of CBS's Bob Hearts have been shifted to tuesday at 7pm. (CTV2 is already busy with NBC's Voice simsub).

Citytv already had their debate last week.

Election night on mon Oct 21, Eastern Time. Global programmed Fox's Prodigal Son in pre-release at 7pm and kept 9-1-1 in simulcast at 8pm, then election coverage until 1am. What about CBS' Neighborhood and Bull ? Find them at 2:32am & 3:02am, respectively. Thanks Corus !!!

See the CTV section for their moves. So far, Citytv keeps their regular ABC's DWTS and NBC's Bluff City simsubs.

As for the west coast, I see 9-1-1 in post-release at 10pm, Local news 11pm + Colbert 11:35 + Singh 12:37am + Prodigal Son at 1:07am, Bull at 2:07am, Neighborhood at 3:07am.

NBC just cancelled the low-rated thursday night sitcom Kal Penn's "Sunnyside" (unrelated to Citytv's 2015 sketch show), which was ignored by canadian broadcaster last spring.

Will & Grace, which was initially expected for mid-season, will premiere Oct 24.

Global has no room in the schedule for ABC's Schooled S2, which became a digital exclusive this season (look for S2E01 on wed Oct 23 at 9pm), just like AP Bio was last season and was ultimately burnoff on weekend afternoons, but... Carol's 2nd Act is in its freshman run and I predict it should air in pre-release on Global, 7:30pm ?

Damn, I totally forgot about Superstore bench during winter when BBCan takes the slot.

On Oct 24, Will & Grace will air in pre-release at 8pm, keeping Unicorn, Good Place and Carol in simulcast. Superstore episode for that night is shelved.
On Oct 31, CBS has a reruns night, therefor Global has Superstore (hello continuity!), Unicorn rerun, GP and W&G in simulcast. A random NCIS rerun will fill the 10pm slot instead of the Evil rerun CBS has programmed.
