Regarding The Orville (Citytv), I noticed that its missing as well and I am curious as to why they dropped it. It doesn't premiere until mid-season and airs on Fridays where Citytv currently has a movie block scheduled so they have room for it in their schedule.

I highly doubt that it will be on Fridays seeing how FOX will have WWE Smackdown Live! to program for two hours on Friday year-round starting in October. The only rare exception would be if it conflicts with the World Series, which in this case it would air on one of their cable sports channels.

For now anyway, I figure that The Orville is not included since the Canadian networks tend to put more emphasis on their new and returning shows for the fall, followed by the midseason, especially in their press releases.

While we know that FOX is bringing back The Orville next season, they probably don't know where it's going to air yet - it's looking more like sometime later than January or heading into the spring of 2020. Same thing goes for Hell's Kitchen. Barring any sudden changes, I expect that the Canadian rights to both shows will remain with Citytv.

I thought Citytv would have added WWE Smackdown Live! to their lineup to take advantage of network simsub opportunities, and given that Rogers presently has the Canadian rights to all WWE programming. But I guess they are happy enough with their CanCon romantic movie block on Friday nights.

Forgot that Smackdown will be airing on Fox in the fall, I was referring to this season where it aired on Fridays.

Interesting, they probably decided not to simulcast Smackdown because Smackdown doesn't really fit with the rest of their schedule and likely won't bring in a lot of viewers as Citytv likely skews more towards the female demo. Also, WWE right now is not doing very well, the viewership of their shows has been declining for a while now so a movie might do better then wrestling?!

FOX aired the recent season of The Orville on Thursdays following Gotham. All episodes aired in simulcast on Citytv.

FOX’s Friday lineup consisted of Last Man Standing, The Cool Kids and Proven Innocent. The Cool Kids was the only show out of the three that aired on a Canadian broadcaster - Citytv ran it in pre-release on Wednesdays. Last Man Standing went on to be renewed, while the other shows got cancelled.

With regards to Modern Family. In Canada was it not on CTV originally then to City and now Global. Can't think of a show that has moved more in recent history. Reminds me of when CHCH would pick up a show that became a hit and then CTV or Global would scoop it. Is Modern Family not that popular in Canada or does it's scheduling just make it hard to schedule around.

Modern Family has been on Citytv since the very first season. It never moved networks throughout its run, but the show is heading into its final season with ratings having been on the decline in recent years, and has never really cracked the Top 30 in Canada, so Citytv opted to give it up in exchange for a more valuable commodity such as the #OneChicago franchise that they could air in simulcast.

Heading in to this fall, Global already had a jam-packed lineup on Wednesday nights with all the CBS shows, so it was no longer feasible to keep the Chicago shows after what happened last season, when two of the three shows aired out of simulcast and in post-release.

The Neighborhood (CBS) seems to be missing a Canadian broadcaster.
Global aired Season 1 in simulcast with CBS on Mondays, though that will change with 9-1-1 (FOX) now moving to the same timeslot and getting primary simsub opportunities.

    Possible scenarios:
On the shelf and ready to come off the bench to fill any holes in their schedule later in the season
First-run premiere on Global's website to be available for streaming the day after the original broadcast
Dropped by Corus and becomes available exclusively to stream on CBS All Access Canada.

UPDATE: Currently available for streaming on CBS All Access Canada.

With all the major upfronts now out of the way, the list of acquisitions at the top of this thread have been updated...for now.

To date, only one new fall show has no Canadian broadcaster and that is NBC sitcom Sunnyside set to air Thursday 9:30pm. This is not meant to be in confusion with the Canadian show of the same name that aired on Citytv a few years ago. Unless someone picked up the rights for this show in Canada, it will quietly end up on Netflix Canada.

There are also a number of returning shows in the fall where no Canadian broadcaster has been confirmed and they happen to be all sitcoms. The most intriguing one is Fresh Off the Boat, although this is pending confirmation of full details of the fall schedule for CHCH when it becomes available.

The rest are all shows that debuted last year and are all heading into their second seasons. Global aired season 1 of both sitcoms The Neighborhood and Schooled, but their status for season 2 remains a question mark. If Global chose to drop The Neighborhood altogether, it will be exclusive for streaming on CBS All Access Canada. As for Schooled, being a spin-off of The Goldbergs, it would have made logical sense for Bell Media to pick it up for airing on CTV / CTV2. but as we've learned not all spin-offs go to the same network already carrying the original series - Global airs
9-1-1 but the spinoff Lone Star went to CTV.

    UPDATE:
The Neighborhood will continue airing on Global for season 2, in pre-release Monday nights at 7:30pm.
Meanwhile, the next season of Fresh Off the Boat will be without a Canadian broadcaster, as it has been dropped from the fall schedule for CHCH. It is one of three ABC sitcoms airing this fall without a Canadian broadcaster, joining Schooled and Bless This Mess.

UPDATE (9/13): Schooled continues to air on Global, but new episodes will premiere exclusively on their website on Thursday (the following day after the original ABC broadcast).

Schooled stays on Global, but with new episodes streaming on their website on Thursdays after the original broadcasts on ABC.

Global has also picked up NBC sitcom Sunnyside, as a Digital Exclusive starting Friday, September 27.
