TORONTO (June 6, 2019) – CTV unveiled today its Fall 2019 primetime schedule, featuring a unique mix of compelling new series and the beloved returning hits that have helped CTV maintain its unrivalled record of success as Canada’s most-watched television network for the past 18 years. CTV’s fall lineup features strong female leads across new and returning programs, and a slate of dynamic dramas that will keep Canadians on the edge of their seats, and a hot new Wednesday night filled with this year’s most buzzed-about new series. Mike Cosentino, Bell Media’s President of Content and Programming, is set to present the 2019/20 schedule today at the #CTVUpfront in Toronto.

CTV’s 2019/20 schedule has been carefully curated to offer a variety of programs for key demographics, using the same expertise that has been the hallmark of the network’s success and has led to CTV delivering the #1 new program of the year for the past nine consecutive seasons.

Big-Buzz New Series and Specials

CTV’s fall schedule features a slew of exciting new series, including:

  • A slate of gripping dramas, including crime drama STUMPTOWN, featuring Canada’s Cobie Smulders, courthouse drama ALL RISE, mystery thriller EMERGENCE, and the ultimate family drama ALMOST FAMILY
  • From hit-making producer Chuck Lorre (THE BIG BANG THEORY, YOUNG SHELDON) comes the new comedy BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA
  • THE MASKED SINGER makes its Canadian debut on CTV after dazzling audiences in its inaugural season as America’s #1 new show

Female Star Power

Adding to the likes of GREY’S ANATOMY, STATION 19, and THE CONNERS, CTV’s slate of new programming features a multitude of prominent female protagonists, including Smulders (STUMPTOWN), Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union (LA’S FINEST), Simone Missick (ALL RISE), Folake Olowofoyeku (BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA), Allison Tolman (EMERGENCE), and Brittany Snow (ALMOST FAMILY).

Dramatic Storylines
Canada’s #1 drama, THE GOOD DOCTOR, headlines a schedule that features five dramas that ranked in the Top 10 most-watched programs last year. The addition of dramas such as STUMPTOWN, ALL RISE, EMERGENCE, and ALMOST FAMILY boost CTV’s primetime dramas this season to 13 hours in simulcast.

All-New Wednesdays

Wednesdays on CTV feature three consecutive hours of new programming to get Canadians over the mid-week hump. The evening kicks off with the TV phenomenon THE MASKED SINGER, followed by ALMOST FAMILY. Wednesdays are capped off with the much buzzed-about and new U.S. series frontrunner, STUMPTOWN.

Returning Hits

In a testament to success of CTV’s character-driven series, returning to the schedule are:

  • #1 new series THE CONNERS
  • YOUNG SHELDON, the #1 sophomore comedy
  • #1 drama series THE GOOD DOCTOR
  • THIS IS US, fresh off its best season yet
  • GREY’S ANATOMY and STATION 19, which both return after rating as Top 10 programs last year

Fall Debuts

CTV’s fall schedule is packed with new programming, as well as returning Top 20 series, totalling 17.5 hours of simulcast in primetime:


  • 8:30 p.m. – Chuck Lorre’s next big sitcom, BOB HEARTS ABISHOLA, an unexpected love story and comedic examination of immigrant life in America
  • 9 p.m. – Simone Missick stars in ALL RISE, a courthouse drama that follows the chaotic, hopeful, and sometimes absurd lives of its judges, prosecutors, and public defenders


  • 10 p.m. – In the character-driven genre thriller EMERGENCE, Police Chief Jo Evans (Allison Tolman), takes in a young child she finds near the site of a mysterious accident who has no memory of what has happened


  • 9 p.m.ALMOST FAMILY, the dramatic story of an unusual family formed through extreme odds
  • 10 p.m. – Action drama STUMPTOWN stars Canadian Cobie Smulders as Dex Parios – a strong, assertive and sharp-witted army veteran in Portland, Ore. with a complicated love life, gambling debt, and a brother to take care of


  • 8 p.m.LA’S FINEST, starring Jessica Alba and Gabrielle Union as a pair of LAPD detectives with complicated pasts, who find common ground while taking on the most dangerous criminals in Los Angeles

Mid-season Premieres

In 2020, CTV unveils a slate of highly anticipated new acquisitions and returning hits:

  • 9-1-1: LONE STAR, from co-creators Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk, and Tim Minear, starring Rob Lowe as a sophisticated New York cop who, along with his son, re-locates to Austin, Tex.
  • FOR LIFE, a fictional, serialized, legal dramainspired by the life of Isaac Wright Jr., about a prisoner who becomes a lawyer, litigating cases for other inmates while fighting to overturn his own life sentence for a crime he didn’t commit
  • FILTHY RICH, a southern Gothic family drama starring Kim Cattrall and Gerald McRaney in which wealth, power, and religion collide – with outrageously soapy results
  • CARDINAL, the internationally successful and critically acclaimed crime drama starring Billy Campbell and Karine Vanasse, culminates with its final season
  • neXt, a propulsive, fact-based thriller starring John Slattery, about the emergence of a deadly, rogue artificial intelligence
  • TRANSPLANT, a fresh take on an ensemble medical procedural, starring Hamza Haq, Laurence Leboeuf, and John Hannah, telling the story of a brilliantly skilled emergency medicine doctor who flees Syria to Canada and is challenged to make a place for himself in a new hospital and country
  • OUTMATCHED, a multi-camera family comedy focusing on a blue-collar couple (Maggie Lawson and Jason Biggs) in Atlantic City trying to raise four kids – three of whom just happen to be certified geniuses


As the exclusive television broadcast partner of the NFL in Canada, Bell Media continues to deliver games in all of the league’s broadcast windows across CTV, CTV2, TSN, and RDS. With the league celebrating its historic 100th season this fall, CTV delivers NFL Sunday games at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m., with SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL and THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL availableon CTV2. CTV also brings viewers complete coverage of the NFL playoffs, including SUPER BOWL LIV live from Miami.


CTV News continues to be Canada’s most-watched news organization, delivering a total of 740 hours of original news production each week with a distinctly Canadian perspective. CTV News brings viewers the most significant international and domestic news stories of the day, led by CTV NATIONAL NEWS, the country’s most-watched national newscast, as well as locally focused weekday evening newscasts at both 5 p.m. and 6 p.m., the latter being the top local choice in all diary markets it competes in.

Kicking off weeknights in primetime is ETALK, Canada’s most-watched entertainment newsmagazine.

Late-Night Favourites

CTV continues to carry a stellar line-up of late-night talk shows, including THE DAILY SHOW WITH TREVOR NOAH, THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN, and CONAN, with CTV2 carrying THE TONIGHT SHOW STARRING JIMMY FALLON and LATE NIGHT WITH SETH MEYERS.




CTV2 delivers another strong primetime schedule with 13.5 hours of simulcast in primetime this fall, featuring a blend of classic comedies, riveting dramas, and big NFL games:

  • THE VOICE takes the stage for two hours Mondays and one hour Tuesdays
  • Football fans continue to get their fill of action, with the FOX NFL PRE-SHOW and THURSDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL on Thursday, and FOOTBALL NIGHT IN AMERICA and SUNDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL on Sunday.
