    For Immediate Release

TORONTO, May 13, 2020 – It’s game time this summer on Global as the network announces the first round of new and returning series headlining the summer primetime lineup. Packed with competition reality series showcasing everyday people, professional athletes, and celebrities, Global welcomes new series including comedic game show Game On! and reality series Tough As Nails , along with Season 2 of Dwayne Johnson’s heavyweight hit The Titan Games. Additional summer programming on Global will be announced at a later date.

“More than ever, Canadians are connecting with Corus networks, whether through TV, online or streaming apps,” said Troy Reeb, EVP Broadcast Networks, Corus Entertainment. “Since the advent of social distancing in mid-March, we’ve seen a 28% increase in Global’s total audience versus earlier this year, powered by both Global News and our dynamic primetime lineup of scripted and reality series. And we’re thrilled to add even more muscle to the schedule with these new competition series.”

    NEW SERIES

    Game On! – Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT beginning May 27
Hosted by Emmy® and Peabody Award-winning actor, writer, and creator Keegan-Michael Key, new sports comedy entertainment show, Game On! premieres Wednesday, May 27 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Global. As equal parts comedy and game show, the genre-busting series pits two teams of three, captained by tennis champion and entrepreneur Venus Williams and Super Bowl champion Rob Gronkowski, alongside comedians Bobby Lee and Ian Karmel and rotating sports stars, comedians and celebrities, against each other in over-the-top physical challenges, absurd trivia, and epic field competitions.

    Tough As Nails – Wednesdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT beginning July 8
Later this summer, Global welcomes Tough As Nails, a new 10-episode competition series debuting Wednesday, July 8 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. From Emmy® Award-winning producer Phil Keoghan (The Amazing Race) who will also serve as host, and his producing partner, Louise Keoghan, the series celebrates everyday people who roll up their sleeves and don’t think twice about working long hard hours and getting their hands dirty, in order to keep their country running. Competitors who consider the calluses on their hands a badge of honour will be tested for their strength, endurance, life skills and, most importantly, mental toughness in challenges that take place at real-world job sites.

    RETURNING SERIES

The Titan Games – Mondays at 8 p.m. ET /PT beginning May 25
Kicking off the summer schedule is an all-new season of hit athletic competition series The Titan Games premiering in a special two-hour episode Monday, May 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on Global. Hosted by superstar Dwayne Johnson, the 13-episode series features a new crop of incredible athletes with inspiring stories as they go head-to-head in challenges designed to test the mind, body, and heart.

This season, six world-renowned athletes will also compete against the everyday Titans including two-time Olympic gold-medal winning and current undisputed boxing world champion Claressa Shields, NFL Iron Man Legend and 10x Pro-Bowler Joe Thomas, Super Bowl champion Victor Cruz, Olympic gold-medal winning snowboarder Hannah Teter, professional stunt woman and star American Ninja Warrior Jessie Graff, and five-time UFC champion Tyron Woodley.

The Wall – Mondays at 9 p.m. ET beginning June 1
New episodes of The Wall also continue into the summer moving to Monday nights beginning June 1 at 9 p.m. ET on Global. From executive producer and NBA superstar LeBron James and hosted and executive produced by actor, comedian, author and TV personality Chris Hardwick, The Wall offers a pair of teammates life-altering cash prizes. The rules are simple: get a question correct and a green ball will fall down the Wall and add the value of the slot to the players’ winning total. Miss a question and an ominous red ball will fall and deduct the value from the teams’ total. Teammates have to work together to build a huge cash prize.

Global usually announces the premieres of their scripted summer lineup, in our case, Private Eyes S4, and Departure which already aired in the UK last summer. I presume Global's gonna hold on the few cancon for next season, see what the US networks have to propose for this fall, and fill empty slots with those. New series Family Law was greenlit in march 2020 so nothing was filmed yet.

Same for Blood & Treasures from CBS which is supposed to be this summer and probably filmed last summer (it is filmed in Montreal so has to be summer shoot).

I think CBS will move it to fall. We will know CBS schedules next week.

I left B&T out since Global depends on CBS to broadcast it. The series was renewed for S2 on June 26, 2019, so unless the following S2 stories and scenarios were done during winter, cast & crew & guests are available, filming locations scouted, they would have july-aug-sept-oct for outdoor filming, unless they incorporated snowy scenes somewhere.

60 MINUTES AND 48 HOURS ANNOUNCED AS FIRST PICKUPS FOR GLOBAL’S 2020/21 TV LINEUP
    https://www.corusent.com/news/60-min...-21-tv-season/

Okay, so CHCH Hamilton dropped them. I don't see the strategy behind this for Global.
    - 60 Minutes on sundays at 7pm is always delayed due to football overruns on CBS so it'll air in simsub 2 or 3 times between september and january. Global uses it for a cancon filler such as Border Security.
    - 48 hours is stable saturdays at 10pm on CBS, but Global uses the free spots to equilibrate their cancon quotas between crime reruns they can simsub there.

Global has rerun all 10-episodes of Nurses on friday nights, finale this friday, and ran out of ideas, so they opted for HGTV's "Island of Bryan" at 9pm, after shelf reruns of Schooled and Superstore. CTV also runs out of Carter episodes next friday, and a Criminal Minds filler is taking the slot (fiew, not 2x TBBT reruns this time).

Global waited and waited before burning off "Schooled" episodes in no particular order, some of them already aired on Global, currently on thursdays and fridays. ABC cancelled Schooled last may, and... Bryan Callen (Coach Mellor) was recently accused of sexual misconduct. The show ain't pulled from Global's schedule yet, but if they do, that leaves too many unaired, shelved episodes on TV. Callen was recurring on The Goldbergs for 42 episodes (IMDb) out of the 163 episodes produced in the last 7 seasons, ABC/CTV can work around this.
