Fall TV Preview 2020/2021

The Fall TV Preview section has now launched, although its quite different from years past due to the pandemic. No pilots were filmed so there is very little info available about the new shows aside from a brief synopsis. It looks like network execs selected series based on their premise and whether they think the show will be successful while normal practise is for a pilot episode to be filmed and then its screened and they then decide which shows to pick up.

Fall info is currently available for CBC, ABC, CBS, FOX & The CW (NBC still has not unveiled their info for the new season). New info will be added as it becomes available.

FOX & The CW will not be launching their new series until 2021 and The CW has actually moved returning series to mid-season as well. ABC has not unveiled a fall schedule so it is not known when their new series will debut. Also, most networks have only 2-3 new shows, with the bulk of shows in their schedule being returning ones, which is understandable due to production being shut down and them likely not wanting to take too many risks. I am wondering if things will get going in time for them to film anything for the fall launch?!

Networks have already ordered series either blindly or throught the regular pilot process, and never put the show on the air. Fall 2012, NBC stopped production of "Next Caller", Fox ordered "Us and Them" for january 2014 which ended up on Sony Crackle in 2018, and what about Fox's "Hieroglyph", ordered for spring 2015, whose pilot looked like a cheap GoT for american broadcast TV (emphasis on american, because CTV already reran GoT S1 uncensored at 10pm, Fox primetime doesn't have a 10pm slot).

Fall 2020 TV. I presume ABC will fetch some selected popular Disney+ shows for broadcast, while NBC is waiting on results for Peacock success to do the same. CBS was optimistic with a regular all-returning lineup.
The bulk of production locations are NY, LA, Vancouver, Atlanta and Chicago. BC handled the covid-19 better and could reopen sooner with a reduced production crew (like no catering) and social distancing, rewritten scenes, but american cast members traveling across the border might be a bigger strategic problem. Too soon to predict everything, we'll see how it goes.

ABC Fall schedule still has not been announced, not sure what the hold up is as they have already announced their plans for the new season?!

Corus Specialty channel Fall highlights now available.

Once again this year, Corus did not post info for several of their specialty channels - ABC Spark, BBC Canada, Cooking Channel, DIY, DTour, Lifetime, OWN- looks like these channels are all an after thought for Corus.
