TORONTO, June 23, 2020 – Today Global unveiled its 2020/21 programming slate loaded with new, high profile series and returning hits to create a dynamic and solid schedule of premium content. On the heels of yesterday’s announcement about new pickups 60 Minutes and 48 Hours, Global adds three new primetime shows to its fall lineup. Starring Emmy® winner Archie Panjabi (The Good Wife) and Oscar® winner Christopher Plummer (All The Money In The World), the much-anticipated North American debut of Global Original event series Departure lands this fall on Global, along with licensed series The Equalizer starring Queen Latifah (Chicago, Bessie), who also serves as executive producer, and sci-fi drama neXt starring John Slattery (Mad Men). These new series join Global’s 19 returning primetime hit shows offering compelling dramas, hilarious comedies, and beloved reality series.

NEW FALL PRIMETIME SERIES
Departure
Departure is a six-part event series that follows the investigation into the shocking disappearance of Flight 716, a passenger plane that vanishes over the Atlantic Ocean. Brilliant investigator Kendra Malley (Panjabi) is brought in by her mentor Howard Lawson (Plummer) to lead the team looking into the crash. Click here to watch the trailer.

The Equalizer
The Equalizer is a reimagining of the classic series starring Academy Award® nominee and multi-hyphenate Queen Latifah (Chicago, Bessie) as Robyn McCall, an enigmatic woman with a mysterious background who uses her extensive skills to help those with nowhere else to turn. McCall presents to most as an average single mom who is quietly raising her teenage daughter. But to a trusted few, she is The Equalizer – an anonymous guardian angel and defender of the downtrodden, who’s also dogged in her pursuit of personal redemption.

neXt
From creator and executive producer Manny Coto (24: Legacy) and executive producers and directors John Requa and Glenn Ficarra (This Is Us), neXt is a propulsive, fact-based thriller about the emergence of a deadly, rogue artificial intelligence that combines pulse-pounding action with a layered examination of how technology is invading our lives and transforming us in ways we don’t yet understand. In addition to Global’s star-studded new series, Global welcomes back an impressive roster of 30 perennial hits across all TV genres this fall.

DRAMA AND REALITY

COMEDY
Global packs on the laughs this fall with returning comedy favourites The Neighborhood starring Cedric the Entertainer and Max Greenfield and The Unicorn starring Walton Goggins.

Plus, fresh off its win of the coveted Golden Screen Award for Canada’s most-watched comedy or drama, smash-hit detective series Private Eyes Season 4 joins Global’s fall lineup. Featuring 12 new episodes, Shade (Jason Priestley) and Angie (Cindy Sampson) are back on the case and have their hands full of new twisty, thrilling, and dangerous cases to solve. Production partners Corus Entertainment and leading independent studio Entertainment One (eOne) are also proud to announce the renewal for Season 5 of the popular international hit series, which will air on Global later in 2021.

SPECIALS
Global celebrates the best of Canadian country music with 2020 Canadian Country Music Awards airing Sunday, September 27 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on Global. Uniting fans and an entire nation, this year’s broadcast will take place in both Toronto and Nashville and feature performances, collaborations, and some heartfelt surprise moments. With a backdrop of rolling hills and wide-open spaces, the CCMA’s are bringing country back to the country for this incredibly special show in an all-new format.

2021

Looking ahead to 2021, Global serves up fresh Original content and top performing returning shows. Last fall’s #1 new series Prodigal Son returns for a bone-chilling sophomore season, along with Season 4 of Canada’s Top 5 program 9-1-1, and the adrenaline-fueled S.W.A.T. Global Original legal drama Family Law debuts starring Jewel Staite (Firefly) and Victor Garber (DC’s Legends of Tomorrow), and Season 2 of Global original breakout hit Nurses, from ICF Films and eOne, also joins the 2021 schedule.

Superstore againt skipped the schedule. Next was on CTV's purchased last year, they took that over.

2 Canadian dramas on the fall schedule is big for them (or CTV). They often had zero lately.

Hopefully getting 60 minutes and the entire CBS line-up on Sundays doesn't mean they will wait for CBS football to be over and we will be able to get the shows on schedule time and not simulcast when football overruns.

With S.W.A.T. returning in the fall and Survivor out, I would assume Global's Wednesdays are going to look like this:

8:00pm Private Eyes
9:00pm SEAL Team (s-CBS)
10:00pm S.W.A.T. (s-CBS)

Unless they don't want to have Private Eyes against The Masked Singer and then it;s anyone's guest where it would go. It could alos replace any shows that is not ready in the fal as US networks are hoping. At this point, none of them will be ready for late September except maybe those filming in Canada.

CBS' schedule is too optimistic while The CW's was safer, realistic. Global has to follow throught.

Los Angeles (where SWAT is filmed and requires many outdoor scenes) is actually seeing a spike in corona meaning more delays.
Filming resuming in Vancouver require american cast & crew have to leave their LA home, cross the border to Canada, and quarantine themselves a few days before coming back to the filming locations. Also presume some series have to film their respective season finales whose scripts weren't adapted for filming social distancing scenes.

TORONTO, September 8, 2020 – Global announced today a fresh new slate of TV series joining the fall primetime schedule including seven newly licensed series, delivering 15.5 hours of simulcast. Along with new daytime show The Drew Barrymore Show (Sept. 14), Global adds a mix of TV genres to its lineup including scripted true crime series Manhunt: Deadly Games (Sept. 21) and critically acclaimed comedy One Day at A Time (Oct. 12). In addition, new reality series hosted and executive-produced by comedian and actor Ken Jeong, I Can See Your Voice (Sept. 23), and The Greatest #AtHome Videos (Sept. 25), hosted by The Neighborhood’s Cedric the Entertainer join the schedule, along with documentary series The FBI Declassified (Oct. 13), and 48 Hours: Suspicion(Sept. 9), a special edition of 48 Hours. Global also picked up country music special, the 55^th Academy Of Country Music Awards™ (Sept. 16).

These new acquisitions join previously announced fall series and specials including the Canadian premiere of Global Original event series Departure (Oct. 8), new A.I. thriller neXt (Oct. 6), the 2020 Canadian Country Music Association Awards (Sept. 27), and news series 60 Minutes (Sept. 20) and 48 Hours (Sept.26).
Additional premiere dates for upcoming scripted dramas and other series to be announced at a later date.

SCRIPTED DRAMAS
This fall Global adds three new scripted dramas to its schedule. In September, the broadcast debut of scripted true crime series Manhunt: Deadly Games begins Monday, Sept. 21 at 10 p.m. ET/PT, while in October previously announced sci-fi thriller neXt starring John Slattery (Mad Men) premieres Tuesday, Oct. 6 at 9 p.m. ET/PT, and then the Canadian debut of Global Original event series Departure takes off Thursday, Oct. 8 at 10 p.m. ET/PT.

COMEDY
Moving on to comedy, Global welcomes familiar face Cedric the Entertainer (The Neighborhood), as he hosts The Greatest #AtHome Videos. Premiering Friday, Sept. 25 at 8 p.m. ET/PT, this series highlights the next generation of viral home videos in the age of social distancing. Then in October, critically acclaimed comedy One Day at a Time debuts on network television with all episodes from its fourth season beginning with back-to-back episodes on Monday, Oct. 12 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. The award-winning series inspired by Emmy^® winner Norman Lear’s 1975 show of the same name, tells the story of the Cuban American Alvarez family.

REALITY AND COMPETITION SERIES
Home to some of the most-watched reality TV, all-new unscripted series I Can See Your Voice, hosted and executive-produced by actor-comedian Ken Jeong, joins Global’s fall lineup Wednesday, Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Then, two-time Emmy^® Award winner Undercover Boss returns to Global in October beginning Friday, Oct. 2 at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Rounding out Global’s reality lineup, juggernaut hit Big Brother All-Stars continues into October, crowning the winner on Wednesday, Oct. 28 at 9 p.m. ET/PT.

SPECIALS & ENTERTAINMENT
Global is the destination for country music lovers this fall with two country music specials. Saddle up on Wednesday, Sept. 16 at 8 p.m. ET/PT for 55^th Academy Of Country Music Awards™ hosted by country superstar Keith Urban.
