    When a green ogre called Shrek (Mike Myers, Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me) discovers his swamp has been swamped with all sorts of fairytale creatures by the scheming Lord Farquaad (John Lithgow, THIRD ROCK FROM THE SUN), Shrek sets out, with a very loud Donkey (Eddie Murphy, Daddy Day Care) by his side, to persuade Farquaad to give his swamp back. Instead, a deal is made. Farquaad, who wants to become the King, sends Shrek to rescue Princess Fiona (Cameron Diaz, Charlie’s Angels), who is waiting for her one true love. But once they head back with Fiona, it starts to become apparent that not only does Shrek like Fiona, but Fiona is keeping something secret.

    Kelly Sun (guest star Kelly Hu) is found wandering Riverside Park, beaten and raped, and has no memory of what happened. Detective Stabler and Benson search for incarcerating evidence against Lutz, but each of his victims suffer from memory loss from the attack.

    After a bestselling writer, “Sweetie Ness,” is killed, Lupo and Bernard’s search leads them to the club where she was last seen alive.     The legendary Cape Breton singing group reunites for a one-time television special taped in front of a wildly enthusiastic audience at Toronto’s famed Masonic Temple. Jimmy, Raylene, Heather and Cookie Rankin sing all their hits, while Molly Rankin, daughter of the late fifth member of the Rankin family, John Morris Rankin, makes a guest appearance.

    9 p.m. – SUPERNANNY – “James Family” – ALL-NEW EPISODE
    NBA guard Mike James plays for the New Orleans Hornets, but his family lives in Houston. His wife, Angela, just gave birth to their fourth little girl, and Mike has dubbed his wife Super Mom. But Angela admits the kids are out of control, and when Mike is home, they’re so excited to see him that it becomes absolute chaos. Super Mom has a message for Supernanny: Help! News of the horrific attack made headlines across Canada, as the Canadian officer who went to the war-torn country to spread peace was instead left fighting for his life. In this exclusive CTV Original documentary, Vancouver filmmaker Sue Ridout provides intimate access to Greene’s remarkable journey, as he first fights to survive the near-fatal attack, and then struggles to reclaim some measure of his former life.

    The Emmy and Grammy Award-winning Muppets deliver an all-new one-hour special filled with song, dance, mayhem and heaps of holiday high spirits. On Christmas Eve, Kermit, Fozzie, Gonzo and the rest of the gang mistakenly avert three letters from making their way to Santa Claus. They need to get the letters to Santa in time, and hope that nothing can stand in the way of their happy Christmas.     The 1951 black and white version of A CHRISTMAS CAROL, starring Alistair Sim, is widely considered to be the definitive of the many film adaptations of Charles Dickens’ classic novel. The timeworn story about the miserable old merchant Ebenezer Scrooge and how his own disappointments in life shape his view that both life and men are not worthy of his notice or concern. He displays no charity to mankind generally, and in particular, to his employee Bob Cratchett (Mervyn Johns) and his unfortunate son, Tiny Tim (Glyn Dearman). But the miserable, miserly gent is about to get his comeuppance when he is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future.

    Joaquin Phoenix goes into the heart of the Amazon Rainforest where the Yawanawa Community is on the rise thanks to the leadership of Tashka and Laura Yawanawa. At 26 years old Tashka Yawanawa became responsible for 500 people and 100,000 hectares of rainforest as Chief of the Yawanawa. Tashka and Laura have managed to double the Yawanawa territory, reinvigorate Yawanawa culture, and establish economically and socially empowering relationships with the outside world.

    11:30 a.m. – 4REAL CITY OF GOD – CHRISTMAS DAY MARATHON
    International rap superstar Mos Def visits the infamous favela (slum) City Of God. Brazil’s #1 rap artist MV Bill speaks to Mos Def and producer Sol Guy as the voiceless youth of the favelas. MV Bill shows them how he’s is using Hip Hop to speak to the youth and empower them with life and community skills. Mos Def and MV Bill discuss the transformative power of Hip Hop culture and perform together in Rio for thousands of fans.

    1p.m. – 4REAL LIBERIA – CHRISTMAS DAY MARATHON
    International music sensation M.I.A. visits post war Liberia to see how child rights advocate Kimmie Weeks is helping young people rebuild their lives and their country. Over the years, Weeks has formed partnerships and led organizations that have provided education to over 1 million students in West Africa, lobbied the disarmament of over 20,000 child soldiers and provided health care to children. With all the hell that 14 years of civil war have put the people of Liberia through, when M.I.A. throws a block party, we see that the spirit of the people has made it through.

    1:30 p.m. – 4REAL KENYA – CHRISTMAS DAY MARATHON
    Canadian Hip Hop star K’naan goes into Kibera, the largest slum in East Africa, to connect with local hero Salim Mohamed. Salim shows him the medical clinic he helps run and the community development soccer program he coordinates for over 4,000 kids. He sees beauty and dignity in the most unsuspecting place and is forever changed by Salim’s incredible spirit, as he brings education, opportunity and health to a place few people want anything to do with.

    2 p.m. – THE HILLS and THE HILLS LIVE AFTER SHOW MARATHON – NEW TO CTV

    3 p.m. – 4REAL PAWNEE – CHRISTMAS DAY MARATHON
    Casey Affleck visits the Pawnee Nation reservation in Oklahoma, USA, to meet Native leader Crystal Echo-Hawk and her NVision crew. NVision is a collective of Native men and women who use hip hop, popular culture, film and visual and performing arts to create a dialogue with Native youth about ways to realize their vision for success, leadership and well being. Sol and Casey check out the launch of the NVision tour, which will travel to Native reservations and cities with urban Native populations. The tour includes workshops, concerts and promoting the message of the importance of leadership, empowerment and cultural pride. Sol and Casey also witness the challenges of reservation life that are often invisible to mainstream society. They are inspired not only by NVision’s passionate effort to combat despair but by the overall pride and resilience of the Pawnee community.

    Cameron Diaz goes high into the Andes Mountains of Peru where young medicine man, Puma Singona, of the Quechua tribe, is keeping his people’s ancient knowledge and wisdom alive. When he was just six years old, under the guidance of his grandfather, Puma began his training as a traditional medicine man. By fifteen, he was traveling to international conferences to speak about Quechua traditions and culture. Today, at 27, he sits on his community’s council of elders, runs a cultural organization that focuses on teaching tradition to youth, and is internationally recognized for his powerful healing and teachings. Puma introduces Sol and Cameron to his community, takes them high into the mountains for a winter solstice ceremony, and shows them one of the Seven Wonders of the World, Machu Picchu.

    Wow, they really are pushing the Anne of Green Gables stuff.

    I might take a look at it, but what I'm really interested in The Muppets. I just hope it includes those two old guys, they're my favourite chracters! :p
