    NBC Renews Southland

NBC has renewed midseason drama "Southland" in what is expected to be a wave of pickups over the weekend as the network is getting ready to unveil its fall lineup to advertisers on Monday.

NBC picked up 13 episodes from "Southland," exec produced by John Wells.

The Warner Bros. TV-produced cop drama, starring Ben McKenzie, was a late addition to NBC's midseason slate. It got off to a very strong start in "ER's" Thursday 10 p.m. slot. The ratings have since slipped, but the network brass have been high on "Southland's" creative potential and Wells' solid track record as a showrunner.

    Cool.
I caught an episode of this show this week and I though it was pretty good. I was planning to watch this series from now on and I'm glad it will be there next season.

    NBC picks up Medium

    NBC has renewed "Medium"

The exact order has not been determined but is expected to be in the 13- to 18-episode range.

"Medium" has become a utility player for NBC. While modestly rated, it is reliable as a midseason backup and hits its numbers consistently.
