The other thread was getting kinda long so I decided to start a new one for the new year!

It's pretty cool to compare this years ratings to last year, and this falls ratings to last fall, you can see Toronto's top 30 shows for last year & fall 2006 at this link

Well then, back to 2007

BBM Nielsen Media discovered an error in it's data! From October 23rd 2006 to January 28th 2007 some BBM Nielsen ratings for some shows were not being counted. This messed up the ratings. BBM Nielsen discovered the problem and fixed the ratings, here are the updated ratings for those dates, this didn't effect the ratings too much but it did change some of the rankings around.

So once again, The ratings from OCTOBER 23rd 2006 - JANUARY 28th 2007 have been UPDATED

First, sorry these ratings are late, the reason why Jan 29th-Feb 4th's ratings are so late is because changes were made to the overnight numbers. If you look at the list you will see that the top 10 shows on this list is a bit different from the top 10 shows listed on other websites. These are the FINAL numbers and are the correct numbers. So once again sorry these are late but these are the FINAL numbers from BBM Nielson Media Research.

They did

Deal or No Deal just get's amazing ratings in both the U.S. and Canada

Oh and both NCIS & Boston Legal beat the programming airing on Global in the same timeslot second only to CTV.

If Global does not like competing with CH, why don't they have Boston Legal and NCIS on the main Global network, and shift programming around so CH never outdoes Global?

Well there are alot of reasons

#1. Global needs to air Canadian content. Shows like Risk Takers,ect.. are Canadian

#2. NCIS & Boston Legal don't do that great in the Adults 18-34 demo, a demo Global likes to win in. (Both do great in the 25-54 demo though)

Also it would be pretty hard on CH to just move 2 of their hit shows to Global's lineup with no replacement. Canwest doesn't mind if CH beat's Global, they only care if a CH show goes after the exact same viewers as the Global show and ends up hurting Global by splitting the viewers.

But ya Canadian content is a big one and then Global wants CH to be strong as well and doesn't want to make CH look like a dumping ground (even though sometimes it is) so they can't just cherry pick every CH hit and air it on Global (even though they do that alot)

When they do cherry pick they do it slowly so viewers don't get confused and it doesn't hurt CH too much. Like 24 started out on CH, It kept on doing so great they finally moved it to Global

Plus it's good for CH to have a few mega hits (as long as their not killing Global by going after the same viewers as the Global show) Example: When Canwest applied to have CH programming replace CBC programming at CHBC in Kelowna B.C., one of their strong points was how much money CHBC would make by selling ads for the hit CH shows (Like NCIS, Boston Legal, Deal or No Deal, Big Brother, ect..) so if you take away all of the hit CH shows at once Canwest will look really bad.

Not saying that shows like NCIS or Boston Legal wont ever end up moving to Global. Both could very well end up on Global's Fall 2007 schedule but for now Canwest is happy with them airing on CH.

As long as shows on CH and Global don't go after the same audience, it does not matter how the ratings come out.

I end up watching (forced simsub) 3-4 hours of CH programming each week.

Thing that annoys me about CH/Global is no scenes from the next ep.
