The-Out-Of-Towners avail. on TCM but not TCM HD

According to my EPG (electronic programming guide), the 'The-Out-Of-Towners' (1970) will be available on TCM HD but says: "Black out in effect - TCM HD doesn't have the broadcast rights in Canada."

Is it common to have the Canadian rights in SD but not HD? Seems strange. Maybe they don't have the SD rights, either, and my EPG is wrong.

I guess I'll find out at 8PM (ET). Help protect male rights, too.

There's a thread about it in another forum, so you won't feel alone:

From what I understand so far, the SD channel is the Canadian version, but the HD channel is USA feed. They sometimes haven't brought the broadcast rights for the HD version for some specific movies.
We had a good run: 2006 to 2020. Thanks for the informations and debates.

Weird. I watched on the SD and right after it ended tuned to the HD. They're on some sort of delay. Because they're at the scene where Jack and Sandy stumble upon the lost Spanish boy in the park.

The movie's scheduled for 8 to 10:15, given it's only a 1 hour and 40 minute movie. TCM (SD) is airing some Bob Hope filler. TCM (HD) is still going on its delay and will probably end at 10:15... for the start of the next film 'A Rasin In The Sun'; available on both SD & HD.

That's unusual. has it starting at 8:30... so it looks like you're right about TCM (SD) being a Canadian feed. Help protect male rights, too.
