I think Bell needs to make some improvements to their programming Packages by making one with All News, All learning, Music...etc!!!

That would be the logical way of organizing things (by theme) now wouldn't it?! Of course there is a reason to their madness, they package channels the way they do intentionally so that you have to subscribe to as many theme packs as possible to get the channels you are interested in. In most cases, I would wager that people only watch 1 or 2 channels per theme pack.

Remember that Bell only cares about themselves and making lots of $$$, they don't care about offering subscribers the best value possible. Of course, this also applies to every other BDU out there as well, not just Bell.

Well in defence of the cable guys, at least their "basic cable" package includes actual cable channels while Bell's essentially consists of a bunch of locals with the low cost cable stations thrown in.

That is one thing I did hate about Bell when I was a subscriber, to get certain channels you needed multiple packages just to get the one channel you were after. I didn't play their game though, so while I wouldn't mind having Space I wasn't about to pay for a bunch of other channels I had no interest in to get it.

Then there was the way they packaged the US networks, they were a separate package and yet if you subscribed to them you essentially ended up getting no value for your package because the channels were simsubbed most of the time during primetime and as time progressed they were simsubbed during syndicated shows too, and then they wanted an extra dollar for the time shift feed and that too was simsubbed most of the time, and by stations that weren't even local to you to begin with.

That is why I'm happier with Shaw, I get Detroit HD feeds pretty much simsub free unless CTV or Global show something early at 7PM, which is very rarely, I've only really seen it done when Lost was airing and they aired it at 7PM here in Calgary because they had so many other shows to simsub that night.

Bell still hasn't added History Television HD? I just don't understand this. History Television has a massive amount of HD programming, goes after the same type of audience that is into HD programming, is the #1 non-sports specialty channel, and the #2 channel overall, they are the #1 non-sports specialty (#2 overall) not only in total viewers but in practically every key demographic (Adults 25-54, Adults 18-49, Men 25-54, Women 25-54)! Practically every other provider has picked it up, why not Bell?

What I don't understand is, how can Bell add Disney XD HD but no the SD version? I was under the impression that if your licensed primarily as an SD channel that's allowed to launch an HD feed (which Disney XD is) as opposed to being licensed as an primarily as an HD channel but availabel to launch an SD version (like Oasis HD for exmaple), that you had to add the SD channel if you were to carry the HD channel.

Am I wrong here or is Bell breaking the rules here, which I wouldn't discount that somene would break the rules.

Actually I think that is a good move on Bell's part. Most people want HD so why waste valuable bandwidth to add two different versions of the same channel?! Either they are doing it because the don't have the room to add both feeds or an attempt to get more people to switch to HD?! MSNBC is also available only in HD.

I am not sure if such a rule exists but even if it does nothing will happen as whose going to complain?! The CRTC does not enforce their rules, only if they receive a complaint do they look into the matter of whether the regulations are being followed.
