    Rush HD becomes radX

On August 23, Rush HD will be rebranded as radX. A bit of the info is posted here and so it the new logo. http://www.facebook.com/note.php?not...02859&comments

Equator HD will become eq HD, I'm guessing probably on the same date as Rush becomes radX. Although, I haven't seen any press release on it though.

    Here's radX's website and eq HD's website.

One interesting thing about radX though, is that they've dropped "HD" from their name. Maybe this is a move to launch a SD version of the channel?

Another day, another re-brand, this is getting a little too much.

Looks like they are trying to fill the void left by the shut down of X-treme Sports. I suspect it will continue to air in HD, if it doesn't then that is a huge step in the wrong direction IMO. High Fidelity did apply a while back for SD versions of their channels, not sure why?!

Why the name change for Equator HD, perhaps they don't want to pay license fees to Rainbow Media anymore (they owned VOOM, Rush , Equator & Treasure are all VOOM branded channels). If that's true, then expect to see Treasure HD change its name as well at some point.

The rebrands are gonna keep coming as long as there's crappy channels no one watches.

I'm pretty sure it will continue to operate in HD since I'm pretty sure it has to. It was licensed as a HD channel, so just like how SD channels who get permission to launch HD feeds and they can't just shut down the SD feed with only a HD feed, I'm sure radX can't shut down the HD feed and leave only a SD feed.

That's fine as long as the 'new' channel that is replacing the existing one is an improvement over the old one. Unfortunately that is not the case with all these re-brands, case in point:

TV Land Canada --> Comedy Gold - Slight improvement
CourtTV Canada --> Investigation Discovery - Improvement

Mentv --> The Cave - Not an improvement!
Lonestar --> MovieTime - Not an improvement
(fans of the western genre lose their channel and there is no replacement whereas there are plenty of 'general' movie channels so this re-brand was not needed)

I never said the re-brands were going to be good. These channels are in the pits because no one involved knows what to do with them in the first place.

those channels are the pits....it's really a shame that these canadian companies don't really know what they are doing. Rush hd, equator hd and treasure hd literally have the worst old movies airing....it's like they ran out of money and are they are hoping their viewers won't notice. I don't think they'll be around for much longer.

The issue is not everyone has the same taste for channels while you may not like them but that does not mean other don't and that does not mean there not doing well they very well could be doing ok sub wise.
