    Mpix Is Good Value

I have taken a good look at my rogers bill and have decided that MPIX is the best value for all the movie services. Even though it shows older movies there are many I have never seen before and others that I want to see again . I can no longer justify paying 15.99-16.99 plus tax for Tmn or Superchannel . I like superchannel better than TMN but its not worth 15.99.:(

If you just have a taste for older movies then mpix is perfect. If you want new and older movies and real good international and north american series then supper channel is good.If your heavy in to new movies and series then tmn is for you.My point is there is sometnhing for everyone.

Price is a factor when selecting movie channels!!!

I've had all of the movie services and they are all overpriced for the amount of entertainment you get. I found Tmn to have most the newer movies but by the time they come out I have either seen them in the theatre or on DVD. I don't like the HBO series and never watched them. Superchannel has great foreign films, boxing , and their series are better than HBO but not worth 15.99 . Mpix is a great deal with ondemand and 3 movie channels at 8.99 it has a lot of movies that I enjoy and my kids can enjoy too! Getting a rogers discount makes it even cheaper.:)

The problem with Mpix is that they don't air any adult movies.

Surely there's been erotica made in the last few decades yet for some reason they choose to ignore the porn back catalog.

Iff they did air adult titles it'd be the best value for porn per dollar on cable. Perhaps if they added some they'd see a subscriber increase.

    Mpix is perfect for families

I find that MPIX has a good selection of comedy and action movies that are interesting for the whole family. I don't have to worry about my kids seeing porn on TMN and there are a lot of great movies that I haven't seen before and some older ones that I enjoy sharing with my kids. We get more use out of MPIX than TMN or Superchannel. At least Mpix is all about movies and not about documentaries and musicals and HBO filler content. I think Mpix is a wise choice!:)

In fact, Mpix is still distributed in analog form in some areas, so adult movies ain't an option.

On the other hand, Mpix lacks of extremes, like gore/extremely violent movies (like what was on Scream), or racier sexy movies, or exploitation B-movies (like on what was Drive-In).
We had a good run: 2006 to 2020. Thanks for the informations and debates.

Seriously? You are comparing a retro movies pay-tv channel with a suite of pay-tv channels that delivers recent content.

Mpix is licenced by Astral Media and offers a variety of classic films from the 1920s to the early 2000s, commercial-free at a low cost. That channel airs only movies, no annoying fillers (go watch a CanWest channel instead), no goddamn sports (go watch TSN), no classic tv series (go watch... TVtropolis... no, Dejaview... no... Comedy Gold? no...), no cartoons (go watch Teletoon Retro).

I'll pick Mpix anytime over annoying MovieTime.

Why not? The oly City used to air soft core OTA?

MPIX has ondemand Hd and all movies . No filler or series ,just movies and thats what I wan't . It all depends on what you need and what you are paying for .:) I wouldn't say that TMN or Superchannel are good value when the last year or so they have been going downhill . Tmn added HBO but gave up channels that were all about movies. Superchannel is the same with less blockbusters but documentaries etc.. to fill in the gaps. Movie channels should be exactly that just movies , not documentaries ,sports ,music etc... At least MPIX is exclusively movies and offers ondemand and HD as well. By the way there are some great movies on there right now and many I haven't seen .

Well, we made reference to adult programming without stating the level we're taking about.

It's clear that hardcore porn will never make it on Mpix. Not even sure their licence would permit it.

Softcore (simulated sex or Baby Blue Movies) would be ok but as long as there's a storyline it should be ok (I'm thinking about Emmanuelle here), but the guys-and-girls-in-a-house-having-a-simulated-sex-scene kind of movies are kinda boring, and therefor not memorable classic movies.

Adult movies based on nudity without simulated intercourse like Russ Meyer's classic movies would also be great!

The Hollywood mainstream movies about teenage sexuality are already in rotation.

Bravo in it's prime had stuff like Russ Myers festivals, Fritz the Cat and great stuff like that. It's that type of stuff that made paying for cable worthwhile - although I had seen most of it before and often I actually own the discs it felt good to be able to pay for that stuff to be on the air for others to see for the first time.

Although the American Pie college sex romp movies are fine and dandy it just doesn't feel the same.

Aside from more risque stuff on MPix although I liked the service well enough when I was a viewer I would have liked more classic premium series like Dream On, Larry Sanders and Tales From the Crypt that don't get played much anymore.

Most of the series and sports I watch are on Rogers basic cable. I still get all my Hd networks and ondemand services. TSN and Sportsnet offers quite enough sports as well. So why spend anymore than 5.99 -8.99 for movies a mth. A lot of the newer movies are garbage and will eventually be put on Mpix or elsewhere on cable.

Netflix offers even more for 7.99 ,but i still liked Mpix but not as much as I like Netflix which is a fairly new service.:p But I would still recommend Mpix for older movies and a t a decent price. Or again you could go with netflix an even better deal.
