    Too much porn on TMN!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a problem with TMN excess channel showing porn every night of the week. If I wanted to watch porn then I would subscribe to Hustler etc.... I can't believe that Astral is allowed to show this on their TMN service and that the CRTC is letting them do this. This service is described as a premium movie service but TMN Excess is a porn channel during the night. I think its inappropriate for the intended service to be showing this and they should get back to showing real movies. TMN was once all about movies and now they are filled with HBO content and Porn ! I guess that would be a selling point to some but there are a lot more who disagree.

    Too much? C'mon!

TMN is a premium suite of channels, commercial-free. And yes, they are allowed to air sports events, TV series and adult movies. That's what the customer is paying for: premium commercial-free content.

Plus, according to your previous thread, you have 7 channels, 5 of them being in HD, and you are subscribed to Superchannel, 2 of them being in HD.

Your message that started this thread appears by coincidence a few hours after I have posted a message on DHC forum about adult movies on MExcess. Looks like you are once again in a campaign to discredit TMN in order to indirectly promote Super Channel...

Well, if that's the case, make yourself useful and try to convince Vidéotron to carry Super Channel. I would be grateful.

    I onlyhave Mpix now!

Why the sour grapes I only have Mpix now and no longer wish to have superchannel or TMN . I dont even have superchannel and probably never will again . As for DHC i'll never go on that wasteful site again . Again I never intended to cause you any stress ,just my opinion about TMN and its truly what I believe.

Adult movies are movies too, you know. Discrediting them as inferior is pretty ignorant. I've seen a fair load of porn that couid rivalize the Twilight movies in term of actual plot. :D

I remember those days as well. But I don;t agree with it on TMN , it should be on a specialty channel elsewhere.

Its a fine line if you think soft porn should be else where fine. But then you have to take all moives and series tmn would be thin if you did do that.

Three hours a day on ONE of the on SEVEN channrls.

There isn't enough porn on TMN I say!

They need to make one of the channels dedicated to porn and other adult programming in my books to make up for all these damn kids channels.

In Canada they can air porn on OTA but do I see any on CTV? Fuck they even put a mature warning label on TMZ at 1am! Even WNLO CW23 doesn't do that and they air the program in prime time!

Hell Bravo/Showcase going from airing some R/NC17 programming to a PG/PG-13 channel is the reason I cancelled cable.

We need more adult programming on cable (porn and otherwise) not less. If we did I'd still have cable...just a shame you can't buy TMN as a standalone package without the tiers.

I totally agree with you steelnikel. There are plenty of channels airing porn 24/7 for those that want it, it has no business airing on TMN.

As far as I know, currently Movie Central (the western equivalent of TMN, owned by Corus) doesn't air any porn and they are doing just fine. (edit: it appears they added it once and quickly pulled it, likely because of viewer complaints)

The people disagreeing with you and accusing you of having a agenda don't seem to realize that porn offends many people, that's why so few broadcasters air it, as I already mentioned even TMN's western equivalent Movie Central doesn't air porn, despite the fact that just like TMN they don't have to please advertisers (Advertisers stay away from it because they also realize that porn offends many people. which is another reason why you wont see it on many ad supported broadcasters)

I don't think its going to change anytime soon. They've had this format for awhile now, and it doesn't seem to be enough people bothered by this for Astral to pull it.

I remember years ago, when the rating was not NR/AO. I wanted to watch a movie on m-excess ( can't remember if it was the same one years ago), but the movie was about a family in trouble. So i watch it for a little while, and oupsidoo, porn movie. Now they are more careful.

Actually MC is airing soft core again, although it is less explicit than what TMN airs, TMN airs the X rated stuff that includes penetration, etc. minus the "money shot" from what I have seen of their adult material. MC on the other hand is airing the stuff that used to air on Playboy, the long shots with no real closeups. Although Playboy these days airs the same as TMN, everything but the money shot.

I think MC's Corus ownership is what kept adult material off the service for so long, it was airing it before Corus took over. The Shaw family were quite anti-porn for a while and Shaw Cable didn't have adult material for a while, but then they realized it was a great money maker and relented to the demand. Corus being more of a child/family oriented production outfit likely keeps MC from being too adult oriented, although at the same time they still have no Disney flicks either since Astral has that contract it seems and isn't sharing it with MC/Corus.

I really don't think porn airing on one channel of a seven channel service between midnight and 3AM is going to offend many people, except those looking to be offended. Sorry, but TMN is offered as a discretionary service and only on digital. Pretty much every set top box for digital includes a parental control feature and the option to block adult listings in the guide.

So, essentially you have to go out of your way to be offended by something that provides several avenues to block it from your eyeballs. If TMN was a single channel service I could see the whining about it, but it isn't.

Sorry but porn is still one of the biggest money makers in the entertainment industry. While many people aren't willing to pay $15 per PPV/VOD order for it, nor are they interested in paying $20+/month for a 24/7 channel of it a few movies per month included in their subscription to a premium service could help them justify a subscription to TMN, and considering how long they've aired adult content I would imagine this is a smart business move for them.

To those offended by this content, here's the ticket, fire up your STB and go find your parental control features, set them to block adult content, heck set them to block 18+ movies too because a scary booby might be shown and offend you then too .. actually in Canada make it so you block PG13+ stuff just in case :D

Now if only MC would increase the amount of adult fare they air, in the meantime, there is always the internet where you can find more than enough free adult material to keep you busy.

I don't know about you, but I get more offended by Saw 18's flying baby guts and decapitation traps than two actors having consensual sex with each other. :D

    WRONG !!!!

I just checked MC's schedule and they have 1 adult movie scheduled every night (except on sunday nights) on MC2 at or after 1am.

Porn MAY offend some people, so will nudity, grisly bloody violence, gore, torture, coarsed language. And yes, both TMN and MC air these kind of movies. Also, they air adult movies after midnight on their respective timezones on a specific channel, so you must be a total idiot to tune in at that channel on those specific times to get offended and complain about it!

Plus, the majority of the movies are AVN nominated or awarded, with good reviews, in other words, la crème de la crème of adult movies. No amateurish, gonzo, power play, S&M, pixelled Japanese, shemale, hentai, big huge women, and absolutely no actor/actress is being forced to perform in the movie against their will. Just quality adult entertainment.

To access TMN or MC's adult movies, you must subscribe to the service which is a minimum of 12$ per month, AND you need a terminal receiver, which all of them are equipped with parental control.

So stop complaining, bunch of sissies.
No wonder CanWest got rid of Alliance Atlantis Showcase's Fridays Without Borders... CanWest sucks!

+1 on Canwest sucking. I've always suspected with their 100 Huntley Street connection the bible thumper crowd infected Canwest long ago. What they did to Showcase proved, at least to some extent, that to me. Well they got one less subscriber out of it atleast.

As for the AVN porn on TMN I'd fully support she-male or other unique porn arriving on TMN or any other mainstream channel.

    She-males need lovin' too!

Oh and regarding finding porn offensive...that's kind of funny since I find religion on TV offense. When will that be pulled from TV?

When will movies and TV get religion warning labels like sex and violence?

People can say what they want about porn but at least porn supporters don't fly planes into buildings or murder abortion doctors.

Wow, YOU of all people are telling us to stop complaining? Seriously? Do you not read your own ridiculous complaints? You complain about totally fine programming decisions all the time.

No wonder CanWest got rid of Alliance Atlantis Showcase's Fridays Without Borders... CanWest sucks!
Canwest removed it to please advertisers, who unlike you, understand that many people are offended by it and don't consider them "sissies".

Every week people post absolutely ridiculous complaints, every week people complain about networks airing certain types of programming, yet when someone complains about a network airing pornography they are told to "stop complaining sisses"? Unbelievable.

2 minutes of verification of facts on an easy-to-remember URL (MC's website) outranks an "AFAIK" statement. You were still WRONG.
But still, I don't think you'd be able to tell if a title in a network schedule would be adult content as you'd be offended by the title itself... How would you justify yourself looking for adult movies on a printed schedule? LOL! Run to a priest, and FAST!

You already called some forum users as perverts:
    http://www.viewers.ca/discuss/showthread.php?t=5197
And you keep complaining that "porn offends many people", but you NEVER provide alternatives.

On the other hand, "In Hollywood, sex sells and money talks". CanWest is sooo focus on wanting to put Hollywood movies on all of their movie channels. Don't you find yourself in a conflict of interest here?

On the same year, CanWest scrapped Showcase's "10pm Unmissable" (one original series per weeknight) initiative, scrapped the LGBT theme on thursday night, scrapped the fridays without borders on friday nights, and replaced them with reruns of House, NCIS, Bones, CSI and Law & Order because it's cheaper.

So off course they got rid of the high-quality programming and replaced them with well known high-ratings popular series to milk out the maximum of advertiser money they can, while showing the middle finger at the viewer (they don't care about the viewer anyway, except their subscribers money).

Now my comment wasn't meant to create a religious debate but I just gave an opinion about porn being on TMN . I personally have no problem with porn so don't try to dictate religion ,morals etc with me because that doesn't even apply to me. I gave an opinion and some people have a problem with it and I don't care. We are entitled to opinions here unlike on DHC which seems to have an agenda towards people disagreeing with certain moderators and posters. There's even a certain poster here who hates to see anyone give their opinion especially if it disagrees with them. If you go back through the posts you can clearly see it.:D
