In the comments section of the G&M for the article on the sale of S-Vox to Znaimer/Zoomer the church crowd was sooooo livid.

I'm talking pissed with a capital P that their beloved religion station was sold to a man who aired OTA porn.

It was so awesome I almost got hard.

What makes you think that religious programming will be removed from Vision TV? Znaimer has not stated anything about removing religious programming from Vision TV or JoyTV stations that they now own and control.

This is Znaimer we're talking about, if he is planing to change the format he'll probably change with very little notice so it doesn't give critics a chance to rip it apart before the change.

I'm sure Znaimer will keep programs that that'll make the most for the timeslot possible of course.

However the big thing is these channels were devoted to religion before. Even if they aired secular programming the reasoning behind it was to serve their religion.

Now Znaimer is rebuilding his media empire - that and profits for his backers at Goldman Sachs will be the driving force.

Perhaps I'll get lucky and they'll start airing boomer aged Baby Blue Movies lol.

These channels are just as devoted to religion under Zoomermedia as they were before, and the non-religious programming they aired before Zoomermedia took over wasn't to serve any religion, they are airing the same type of non religious programming under Zoomermedia that they were airing before (JoyTV has some different programming because SUN TV gave up its programming to CHCH/CHEK) JoyTV/Vision TV has always put their main focus on promoting their non-religious programming.

If anything, Religious programming fits with the demographic Zoomermedia is after. Zoomermedia targets Adults 55+, well that's the same demographic that watches those religious programs.

Man if you're mounting an arguement thay Znaimer, the man who programmed some of the most risque OTA programming in Canadian history won't be much different than a non profit that did the mygodpod podcast and is partnered with a Christian maketing company we'll have to agree to disagree.

Like I said before if Znaimer sees a way to make the most money to air religious programming I'm sure he will to pay back his creditors asap but the moment something else will make more money I'm just as certain the church programs will be gone.

As far as religion appealing to the zoomer market well Prime went after the same demo and there was little to any religious programming there.

Znaimer's a pretentious old man, now. (As opposed to the pretentious young man he used to be.) Have you actually heard the radio stations he runs? He panders to the retirement-age crowd these days.

I can still imagine him displaying tasteful nudity on TV (which the religious crowd will hate, regardless), but porn is the last thing on his mind.

I know of Zoomer radio and his classical station however I never thought of them part of the problem. Old content doesn't bother me - I actually like much of the retro stuff however it's the purtian streak infesting Canadian media that does irk me.

I agree that Znaimer's channels could feature movies with tasteful nudity and even if that's the most they air it'll be an improvement IMO.

I have a problem with TMN excess channel showing porn every night of the week. If I wanted to watch porn then I would subscribe to Hustler etc.... I can't believe that Astral is allowed to show this on their TMN service and that the CRTC is letting them do this. This service is described as a premium movie service but TMN Excess is a porn channel during the night. I think its inappropriate for the intended service to be showing this and they should get back to showing real movies. TMN was once all about movies and now they are filled with HBO content and Porn ! I guess that would be a selling point to some but there are a lot more who disagree.:mad:

They play 2 porn movies and 1 (sometimes 2) half hour soft core erotica show(s) from 1:30 am to about 4:30 am.

Thats what Hustler and Playboy channels are for. The porn is taking away from the movie offerings that TMN was famous for and HBO is even worse. TMN was a great service a few years back but not worth it anymore. As for the porn I think if you want it subscribe to the porn channels . TMN was originally all movies but its now porn ,hbo documentairies and movie repeats.
