Oh also new episodes of Futurama will be airing in 2008 on Comedy Central & The Comedy Network.
While not children's programming, they are airing in timeslots geared toward older teen audiences on a youth network, so I'll assume this is the right forum.
While neither show was mentioned in their programming highlights from two weeks ago, it was confirmed in YTV's 2007 Sales Reel that YTV will be airing Futurama. Guess this means Teletoon lost that one!
Also, a Corus rep verified through e-mail that they'll be airing the anime series Death Note on Fridays at 10pm starting in September. That's great news, not only because it's an amazing series, but because it's not even set to air in the US in the fall. It's rare that I'd openly advocate everyone to check out an anime series. If you're not already interested in anime to at least some capacity, then nothing in YTV's current line up is likely going to win you over. This show may be an exception though. I hope that the series can live up to even half its potential with mainstream viewers. Spread the word if you can!

Airing on the Comedy Network? Source on that please?

I wouldn't say Teletoon has lost the rights to Futurama since Corus does own half of Teletoon.
And CTV/Comedy Network has exclusive rights to the Comedy Central library, thus Futurama would air on The Comedy Network next year.

Comedy Central will be acquiring Futurama from Cartoon Network next year, and airing the new episodes.
However, there has been no direct confirmation of any Futurama episodes, old or otherwise, airing on Comedy Network in Canada. I'm not sure if CTV's ownership of Comedy Central properties would include Futurama, which I'm sure YTV forked over a lot of dough for.

Well, according to this part of the release, they should have the priority if they want to get it:
Exclusive access to all Comedy Central programming, including more than 200 hours of current Comedy Central branded original programs, such as the full roster of episodes from The Daily Show, The Colbert Report and South Park. In addition, CTV secures the rights for the complete Comedy Central back catalogue of programs.

Note the wording .. Comedy Central "branded" programming, that is what they gain the rights to. So, unless new Futurama eps are produced by Comedy Central themselves and they have full ownership/distribution rights then it likely won't apply to programming coming from outside studios. Really, Comedy Central cannot sell the rights to stuff they don't outright own or have full control over.
Stuff like Reno 911, South Park, Drawn Together, etc. has the Comedy Central brand attached. That is what CTVgm has exclusive rights to in Canada. What they don't get is access to say the movies that air on Comedy Central (unless produced specifically for the channel), those have to be purchased from the studios directly.
Yeah, it doesn't apply to acquisitions like Futurama. I'm sure Comedy Network WISHES that they had automatic rights to it just because Comedy Central paid a butt load of money for the series. However, they have no part in the production of the movies, so it's likely that YTV will have first dibbs on the episode verisons next year.

Ya you are right, I forgot that Futurama is produced by FOX. This makes me wonder though, maybe Global will get the rights for new episodes of Futurama.
I think Global & Corus may have made a deal to pick up Futurama, YTV would get the rerun rights and Global get's the new episodes, and YTV would be able to encore those new Futurama episodes that aired on Global.
The reason I think this is because I can't see Corus paying for new episodes of Futurama all by itself. Sure i'm sure the syndicated rights were cheap, but not new episodes. However if they had the help of Global then it would be much eaiser. Not only does Global have a agreement with FOX to buy most of the FOX produced programming but Global & Corus have been partners for years! Global & Corus have a deal which allows Corus stations to air encores of some Global programming, they even have a deal which gives Corus the rights to encores of Global's Canadian programming (like Falcon Beach, The Jane Show, Bob and Margaret, ect..) and in return, Canwest is able to encore some of Corus' programming (Renegade Press, Caitlyn's Way, ect..) So I would not be surprised if Global is the home for new episodes of Futurama with YTV airing encores.
yeahh.. plus Global was the Canadian network that used to air new episodes when it first began..
I got some informations about the Teletoon schedule for this fall and if the grid was good, Futurama was air every nights at 8:30pm this fall on Teletoon and Family Guy was gone.
Family Guy will be airing on TVTropolis 5 nights a week this fall. reruns will also air on Global weekends.
