It looks like many Canadian broadcasters are starting to or planning to move forward with HD channel launches. I thought it would make sense to have one thread to track information on possible upcoming HD channels.

The Weather Network HD (Pelmrox)
Listed on MTS TV's website and is listed in the guide as coming in early 2011

Family HD (Astral Media)
Listed on MTS TV's website and is listed in the guide as coming in early 2011

Playhouse Disney HD (Astral Media)
Listed on MTS TV's website and is listed in the guide as coming in early 2011

HGTV HD (Shaw Media)
Many forums have reported that HGTV HD is coming to Bell TV this fall. Nothing official from Bell or Shaw Media

W Network HD (Corus Entertainment)
Rumored to be launching soon. No credible information from the broadcaster or BDU's

YTV HD (Corus Entertainment)
Rumored to be launching soon. No credible information from the broadcaster or BDU's

MuchMusic HD (CTVgm)
Rumored to be launching this fall. Rumors have surfaced due to the ongoing construction at the studio. No credible information from the broadcaster or BDU's

i like how its January 2011 , ESPN 3D is ALREADY out , and Canada still needs HD channels for TV stations that has over 90% HD shows! like Muchmusic for instance . everything off MTV US is in HD. How is the US in the 3D stage while we Canadians are stuck in SD -_-.

I heard that Weather channels new update is for HD . How ever , no news yet when that launches .

BellTV is moving all of the SD programming from Nimiq 82 to Nimiq 91 this week and next. Hopefully the extra space on 82 will be quickly filled with new HD channels.:)

The channels I am patiently waiting for to come to Hd on Bell is Cjoh Ottawa , Ckws Kingston, Hgtv Weather Network, G4tv ,GSN & Travel .

Bell TV added Discovery Channel HD Bold HD awhile ago.

Food Network HD will launch October 5th on Shaw Cable.

Bell finally added History and HGTV in HD, also Food HD has been added. :)

Bravo HD has been added as well. Can't wait for CBC Ottawa HD so I can watch my Senators lose in HD every Saturday night. :p
Bell has really been adding new HD like crazy lately, not that I'm complaining now. :)

Look for W Movies to launch in HD in December or maybe even sooner. Customers of MTS TV have been notified of new channels being added in December and W Movies HD is one of them among many others of which are already launched, except for the Hollywood Suite channels, which has already announced it they are launching.
