    Fall TV Preview has relaunched

I've been saying it for a few years now ( ) but the new version of falltvpreview is now online!

For a list of new and returning features of the website, please visit this link.

As always, I would appreciate if you could email me at info@falltvpreview.com or simply reply to this topic if you notice any errors or have suggestions.

There's still a few tweaks I have to do like associate the relevant forum for each channel, find bigger logos for the channel's page, add official link & wiki links sono need to mention those, I know!

    Thnaks for your time!

Great job with the site but when will we start getting some updates on the specialty channels? Its almost September and nothing yet from CTVglobemedia, Corus or the other smaller broadcasters- why are they taking so long to release their schedules??

Would be nice if you could incorporate some reviews of new shows on the cable channels in the US like USA, TNT, FX, etc. The networks are a dying breed, the good quality shows are now on cable.

I meant to get a write up of Psych done for the site since we went on a set visit there. Sorry about that, I have been swamped elsewhere lately and never managed to get it before the new season launched on USA. Then again we can't find it airing much in Canada anyway :)

There are a couple articles on channelcanada.com about the visit though, mostly to do with how the talent and crew enjoy working in Canada.

It was a fun visit to their set, great bunch of people and now that I've watched the show it is a pretty decent series.

In previous years as you probably know, CTVglobemedia released fall highlights for their specialty channels at the same time as the CTV network. This year, they opted to seperate the main networks from the specialty channels.

The specialty fall launch was soppose to happen in late summer but I was told this week that there won't be a fall launch for the specialty channels. I've requested fall highlights & schedules for most channels and started to get them today.

I will post fall highlights for Discovery, TSN, OLN and and a few others tonight. The rest should come by week's end.

As for the schedules, I hope I'll receive some of them at the same time as I receive highlights so keep your fingers crossed.

I've also opened the premiere dates section and added known premiere dates. I'll add much more during the week.

As for Corus, they don't release their schedule if you don't ask them. Even when you ask them it takes a whiloe before I get them. Corus also was late to release fall information...

stay tuned though, they're coming! :)

A little off topic, but I disagree that cable shows are generally better than network shows. In Plain Sight is the only drama I watch. South Park is as good as any Fox animated show though.

Anyway it surprises me that CTV isn't doing a presentation for CTV Specialty channels. Will they even be doing a press release? If not it doesn't make a lot of sense to promote 'A' the way they do, but no TSN, Much etc.

Well Corus has released one fall schedule of its cable channels. SCREAM has its fall schedule posted on its media website.... http://corusmedia.com/scream

And W Network has some of its shows posted on its media website as well, but there is no schedule and I'm not sure if they list all of their new shows or not.

True but cable is improving year after year for their original shows, some of which are better than some of the OTA network shows.

Speaking with a USA Network rep when we were on the Psych visit, he explained that for a channel such as USA Network they cannot afford to test drive a half dozen new shows each year, instead they tend to rely on one new series per year and put everything they have behind it. They've lucked out so far by producing stuff like Monk, Psych, Burn Notice and In Plain Sight and have been able to keep them going, all those shows are doing very well for them.

They also tend to have smaller budgets which do increase as the series becomes more successful. With more and more reality shows appearing on the main OTA networks it is leaving more room for basic cable to fill the gaps for drama and comedy shows.

Of course it helps that these basic cable channels are in more than 90 million US homes :)

I agree USA Network is an exception. I would watch more of their shows if channels like Showcase were available on basic cable here. Law & Order: CI certainly helped them, IMO Law & Order: CI and In Plain Sight is one of the best two hour blocks on American TV this summer. SYTYCD is the only other one that competes with it; I can't think of any other ones that consist of two shows that do.

I think they're doing well with Monk and Psych back to back on Friday nights as well. The two shows complement each other quite well, quirky, funny and lightweight detective dramas.

Of course I think they're repeating them like 5 times or more a week.
